I was using one of my gas bottles from the van for our home BBQ today. Discovered a smell and used the good old soapy water check system and there it was .....a leak at the joining connectors of the bottle and the BBQ unit hose.. So swapped it over to another bottle and problem fixed, so I assume that the thread on one of those swap and go bottles is stuffed.
First time I have used the swap and go network. Won't be using them again.
I intend to contact the company on Monday re the faulty bottle connection.
Not a leak but out of date, TWICE. I now get them hand filled at BCF whenever possible, I have 3x4.5kg so usually pass a place with BCF in time. I also find the gas lasts longer as well.

it think it is every 5th or 6th refill is free
I don't know anything about a loyalty card sorry grae and deb, only the membership card. That gives a small discount on all products including gas refills. Every little bit helps.

Now to make things bloody worse. I have discovered that I now have to empty the full cylinder before taking it back for replacement. That is a waste of $30, but then again, better than what could be a major disaster.
Good old Murphy's Law.

Don't know who told you that but it is illegal to discharge LPG to the atmosphere.
You gas bottle if from "Swap and Go" is guaranteed so just take it to any reseller or give Elgas a ring.
Swap and Go DO accept out of date bottles by the way. See:
Went to Bunnings T'ville last weekend to swap a gas bottle because the bottle was empty and near it's used by date. The young fellow told me that "Swap and GO" do not worry about out of date bottles anymore and keep refilling them.
I then informed him because it was near the expiry date the refillers will not refill it. I did not get a refill because they had run out of full gas bottles. I swapped it further down the road. I put the question to this service station attendant and he said the same as the Bunnings lad.
This action of not disposing of old bottles could be the reason that caravanners are having trouble with blocked jets and faulty burners on the fridges and hot water heaters using Swap and Go bottle gas.
Is this common practice now and has anyone else had a similiar situation.

Cheers.
It's standard practice with Swap and Go (and probably all) - if you go to their website you'll see they check all bottles for dates, check and restamp if out of date, sandblast and repaint any bottles with surface rust. There will be less crud (if any) inside the bottle as they are bulk refilled by a machine not someone untrained who lets the filling nozzle drop on the ground as I saw at Tennant Creek.
Of late we've been using caravan parks to refill our bottles as they are convenient and usually cheaper than Swap and Go when away from the big smoke.
