EB Big Tube Alloy Bull Bar


confuseconfuseconfusecrycrycry Ok people in GN land, hopefully I'm getting closer, I found ARB can supply and fit a EB Big Tube Alloy Bar to my Mercedes is this a good brand and is it strong enough?

Hi Fran, that is still a good quality ECB product, and IMHO perfect for what you need.
I imagine not cheap though.

Fran, ask ARB about the difference in price and weight between an alloy bar and a steel bar. Also ask them if they can both withstand the same impact force ie a big roo.

 Larry, as an engineer experienced in design in the aluminium ship building industry, I can tell you that the rule of thumb is 40 - 60% lighter for aluminium designed to take the same impact.

Admittedly you need more volume of metal to stiffen the bull bar, but the densities of the materials are 2712/7850 in favour of the aluminium.

If an aluminium bull bar is designed properly there is no reason it can't be as strong or stronger than a steel one.
