Compressor fridge

After much research  we have decided to get rid of our 3 way fridge and go to a compressor fridge and freezer (which will be separate).

The fridge is a vitrifrigo 130l using a bd35 compressor. This is wired directly to the caravan batteries (2x130 amp/hr) with a 15 amp fuse.

The freezer is a 35l top opening chest freezer (inset into bench) with a eutectic plate running from a be80 compressor (ozefridge). Insulation is ~ 75mm. It will also be wired directly to batteries via  6mm cable with 15 amp fuse.

Have put on 2 x 140w  panels on the roof of the van and another one will go on the truck.

At the moment neither the the fridge or freezer will be run on AC but is an option if need be.

A generator will be used if not enough solar available.

Has anyone tried this setup previously or have thoughts on its viability; Especially anyone with compressor fridge/freezer

I would love to hear from you

To run your 12 volt fridge from 240V have a look at these
www.ebay.com.au/itm/251365035341

I have a 3way with 12V 300 watt elements fitted running from a 350 watt 240V to 12V converter.

We have separate compressor fridge and freezer.
I strongly advise you get the Vitrofrigo "all fridge" (no freezer) and remote compressor, then add some extra insulation all around the fridge to reduce the power consumption.
Add lots of extra insulation to the freezer too.

Cheers,
Peter

We do have the Vitrofrig with a remote compressor. We have scope rated the compressor with a duct under the fridge and two computer fans from Jaycar to draw the air through and low level vent in the van.

The freezer will be an ozefridge with a separate compressor made from a redundant 35l engel box only and trying to have 50mm on sides and75mm on the bottom also ducted to outside with the fridge.

I have a Waeco 110 liter frig, small freezer at top running on 12 volt only. I have 240 watts solar and 2 x 6 volt Deep Cycle batteries, 225 amp/hours each. No problem... I only free camp and have no generator...
