We are thinking of buying a Yamaha generator but noticed that the output is 230 volts is this going to make any difference to how the appliances perform in particular the Ibis Air Command air conditioner, looking at the Yamaha 2400I as I don't think the Honda 2 KVA will do it, any advice will be appreciated.

While we always talk about 240V the international standard is 230V. The voltage you receive down the line varies quite a lot depending on where you are, time of the day, day of the week and temperature. You'd be surprise at how low it can actually get at times. 230V won't make any difference to the performance of the Yamaha. Oh! And you're getting one of the best units available. I'm sure PeterD will add some more info. Ozjohn.

We have the honda 20I (2400) and it did struggle with our previous van (Jayco Sterling 21), I think the airconditioning unit was a coleman. Our latest van 23' outback sterling with upgraded Ibis command will run comfortably on 20I Honda.
We also have a honda 20i. Not sure I can comments on the yamaha however the honda works brilliant. Mind you the only reason its used is to charge the batts on a dull day when the solar is low.
I agree with Juergen, the gens are rated in VA (volt amps) which is a trigonametic ratio of resistive power and reactive power. Please dont ask me to explain.. lol Basically means, when the rubber hits the road the number 2000 Watts is a misnomer.
FYI my gen struggles with our Ibis at start up, thats why I have installed fans and a low wattage heater.

We bought a 2nd hand Yamaha 2.4 and ir runs our air con in the bus no problems, we paid $1100 for it. I decided on the Yamaha as on forums they were saying in high ambient temps that the Honda 2.0 overheats and the Yamaha doesn't. Good luck with whatever you choose.
We have been on Internet this morning to look at the spec,s of the ibis and they seem to be well over the capability of both the Honda 2 and the Yamaha 2400 .So went to the local caravan centre to ask advice ,they told us that the only generator would have to be at least a 3kva .So now we are totally at a loss and it looks like we are going to have to spend more money.So we only want to spend money once but find the Honda 3 to be a bit on the expensive side but saying that i guess you get what you pay for in the end.
Now that grinds my gears something fierce, when we bought the honda 20i, the dealer swore blind it would run our aircon, I had my serious doubts.
None the less it will charge the batteries in a day and is very quiet. I guess on a hot day we camp out at the shopping center, or get in the car and travel.
3KVA would hev done the trick for sure as the aircon is a tad over 2kva.

I have an Air Command Cormorant AC in my van and my Yamaha 2400Is runs it with ease. It has only tripped once that I can think of and the wife was using her sewing machine as well as the AC being on.
A further bonus is that the Yamaha runs quieter under load than the Honda.
We have a Yamaha 2kva and can run the AC only with a short 15a lead, maximum length 2m but does rev high. The Yamaha does run quieter than the Honda and the Honda has 2 plug outlet where the Yammy only has one.

The 2.4 Yamaha has 2x15amp outlets, that doesn't mean it will supply 30 amps. In total you wouldn't get 10 amps out of both. Our bus has 2 x 15 amp inlet sockets, One for air con the other one does all the other 230v. So it is handy for us that it has 2 outlets.
