CARAVAN AWNINGS

Recommend Ron Stafford, R V Warehouse, Brendale. Brisbane. 1800 612 672. We went and asked him to explain the new gas regulations to us that come into effect 1/7/2014 and to have a look at his showroom and to show us the new annexes that are compliant with the new law. Highly recommend.

Hey the Rocket

Can you enlighten us on  "to explain the new gas regulations to us that come into effect 1/7/2014"

Would be great to know what you are refering to for the rest of us.
I (me) Like Transit - havent been able to find any info of any changes effect us (Vans + Motorhomes etc)
I have friends in the industry who are definately in the loop - and they didnt know what I was refering to.

Cheers

KT

Hi all, It would be best to talk to Ron Stafford so you get it100%  right. but here is the way I think it is:  If a gas appliance inside or outside of the van is on the side of the annexe then the annexe is no longer able to be enclosed. a new annexe that complies is on show at Rons business. Went to a caravan yard, seen a Jayco caravan we liked but the fridge was on the side of the annexe and therefore the annexe that was with the caravan is no longer able to be sold with it. we wanted to be able to have our annexe fully enclosed because we intend staying in places for months at a time. It is all very confusing and we first got told of this from a man at a caravan dealership. have since turned down another caravan purchase for the same reason and the caravans are beautiful.

I am having my Hino bus fitted out in October. When I arranged it back in May I was told that under the new regs any flue or heater exhaust cannot exit underneath an awning (presumably as a fully enclosed annexe could be set up around it). This also applies to an external gas bayonet fitting. Just found this which seems to answer the questions relating to annexes: http://www.aussietraveller.com.au/assets/Roll%20Out%20Walls/New%20Gas%20Regulations%20for%20Annexes%20on%20Caravans.pdf

Also a lengthy thread on Caravaners Forum http://www.caravanersforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=50620 mainly relating to gas bottle regulators and positioning of bottles on the A-frame.
