Gidday all, any assistance or Info appreciated, ?/ For Many years i have wanted to go to the Country and Western festival, And Now that i am 4 days away from retirement, I can finally Go ?? As January was always out of the question when i was working,

So I know it gets Very, Very, busy, and you need to book well in advance, Any hints on When and Where, do they have overflow area's when the parks are fully booked. ? Also are there any, Nearby Towns that We could go to, and commute into Tamworth daily ?? [ We do travel with 2 very well behaved dogs ]

Any and all info will be appreciated Thank You all In anticipation ??  Daz,smile

Contact South Tamworth Primary School 0267658426 and see if they have any vacancies... they have powered sited and showers and toilets etc.. they are close to most things but you will still need wheels to get around..

Their charges have been going up each year in keeping with everything in Tamworth at Festival time..cry

As soon as you get there goto the closest newsagent and buy a Festival program and then go home and sit down and mark to things you really want to see along with the things you would like to see..

It is 10 days of full on things to do..

Depends on your budget. There is camping along the river, very crowded very noisy. You can book into several sports grounds. We have stayed at the showground a few times and for cost that is pretty good.
If you ring the Tamworth Tourist information they will send you a complete list of accommodation available. Of course there is 3 or 4 caravan parks, they usually have a minimum 10 days booking

I went a couple of years ago & stayed at th Kootingal Caravan Park .

There were heaps of people who book there Every year & from All over .

I found it to be ok as you get away from Everything when you "go home"

It's only 10/15minute drive out of town on N/Eng Hwy.

smile Thank you - oldbusbob, and Neiland Raine, I will give the Info centre a call, and see if they can send out that list,  If anyone else has any idea's especially re - close by towns it would be appreciated, I know it is ''Prime Time'' and they all ''Cash In'' whilst they can, I do not mind paying, but I hate being ripped of ??

Edit,,  Thank you to, Zoomtopz, That does sound interesting, ?/ I like the ''Quite bit'' for when you return back to base, will also check that out..  Daz.

Dazren.

I have been to the Tamworth many times and enjoy the festival as I am a real country music fan.

I stay at the Tamworth Rugby League grounds. They have 2 shower blocks and only about a 7min walk to town. The best idea is to buy the bus pass which cost $10 and lasts for the entire festival. You can get on and off the buses as many times as you like.

The cost of the rugby league ground is/was $33pn. not cheap but you do not need to use your vehicle very often. They do not take bookings so first in best drest. I usually get to the ground about 4 or 5 days before the festival starts to get a lovely grassy spot on the ground.

The ground I think is dog friendly but check with Chillo on this.

Contact email is   Gary Chillingworth     chillo@tpg.com.au

I hope this info is of help.

Regards Chris

If you are self contained there is a free camp site at Moonbi Lookout.
I think there is toilets there.
It is 28 km north of Tamworth. ( a half hour trip or so)
Here is link thanks to Woolly : www.caravancaravan.com.au/entity/moonbi-lookout/nsw

Thanks Baute,    we are self contained, and do freecamp a bit but for this journey we would like a secure base, so as we can leave the vans safely, and regulary, ? so do not mind paying,,

Hi All

We went for the first time last year, been on the list for a while now, like about 20 years. This year things fell into place for us , so we ducked down stayed the first night in Uralla Motel second a and third night with friends not far from Tamworth. Loved every moment of it. Cost is not that high.

2015 will be a one of the schools possibly the one mention by by our old mate Bob, looking forward to the week. Ralph

If you are thinking of staying at STPS I suggest you contact them ASAP as they only let a limited number stay there so as not to over crowd the place.

or over load their facilities..

Here are a couple of pix from last year showing our bus and our neighbours in the shed next door definitely not packed in like sardines....
