The camp near the railway that was free is no longer, moved from the upper level now to down beside the railway line & is now $10 unpowered & $15 powered.
It had been very wet & muddy, just starting to dry out & didn't look inviting so we moved on to Archer Creek; 10kl down the road with large grassed area beside the river, far better.

we were there a few years ago now and it was $4 no power $6 with power.
is the train still running at weekends?
The guys on that were great, I walked the track one day to take some pictures and then they asked me to take the train with them and they dropped me off at the bridge, took the train back a few mtr's and then cam forward so I could take some real good shots, really enjoyed our time there, we were originally going to stay 3 nights ended up 3 weeks.
Last time we were in Ravenshoe I took the train trip & the train derailed - with a thump all the carriages left the line but stayed upright. Only the engine left on the line. Quite an adventure.

that must happen a lot, when we were there the coal tender jump off the line as they were turning the train on its side track, so all they did was disconect the tender and we were on our way
