Bowen & Townsville CP's

Hi to all. We're soon to be passing through Bowen and Townsville and would like to know the best recommendations for caravan parks in both places. We'll be staying 4 to 5 days in each place. All pros and cons helpful. Thanks.

Hello, at present in Townsville. Caravan parks that are close to the city at around $45 per night. Of course the caravan parks further away from town are cheaper and then you have to drive kilometres to get into town. I can recommend the Riverside Convention Centre owned and operated by the Seventh Day Adventist church. It is in Aitkenvale and within walking distance to Stockland Shopping Centre. There are several slab sites and an oval with power outlets to park. There is plenty of room, shade if you want it. The amenities are basic but clean, hit showers, toilets and laundry. The price us $30 per night powered site. It is open to the public. There are a couple of restrictions. No smoking or alcohol. We are happy to respect theur rules. They have a website if you google it. They do close the camp grounds for the school holidays as they use it for childrens camps. We would definietly come here again.

Thanks Val. We like our happy hours so I'm afraid we;ll have to go elsewhere. Cheers.

Hi Harry K,

Having family in Tsv, we travel that way quite a bit, and for us we stop at Wangaratta C/Pk at Bowen - quite a nice park and we have always found it to be a reasonable price, and amenities are quite good. For Tsv we always stay at the Coral Coast C/Pk on Ingham Rd, all but backs onto the airport but that doesn't bother us - used to being under the flight path when we were living up there. However, a lovely park and very hospitable people that run it.

Recommend Woodlands CP on northern outskirts of Townsville. The drive into town is not really a hassle. Their newer section (city end) have really spacious sites and excellent en-suite style amenity building.
