Perhaps this video will assist in identifying the cause of the light not operating now. It may not be what has happened in your case, but it is apparently quite common.
Our light doesn't work either. I have asked a few owners and they say to forget the light and just look at the level. I am not too sure as I like things to work as they should so I may just buy another cassette.
I had the same problem and found that when cleaning the toilet I did shake to hard and the float level came off. They are only held on by 2 small bits of plastic
Just keep an eye on the level

After going to all the trouble of checking the reed relay with a magnet etc. I discovered that the float pendulum had just gone past its stopper ridge & when the fluid rose the float was pushed up towards the horizontal but away from the reed relay.
In its normal state the pendulum hangs down almost vertically and as the fluid level rises it floats up towards the horizontal but on the side where the reed relay fixed to the cabinet is located. A small ridge of plastic inside the holding tank should position it on the correct side.
Perhaps a too vigorous shaking action when cleaning might cause it to jump over to the wrong side of the locating ridge.
To fix, put your hand in the waste hole & CAREFULLY ease the pendulum past the ridge so that it hangs on the relay side of the stopper ridge.
You can test it by using your hand to move the pendulum up to the horizontal.
A small hand is required so SWMBO might be best for this job (if you can trust her to be gentle). It's a bugger of a job to get the pendulum back into its hinges if you pull it off so it might be best to do it yourself .... Just joking!!!
Edit 2 ..
Just looked at the video ...
Should have done that first.
Confirms most of what I have said .. but the video shows a much improved model than mine on which it is certainly possible for the pendulum (Float) to act as I have described.
I'll have to look at the other videos too.

Hi.Our Thetford toilet light gets the mumps occaisionally but perks up again when happy. No reason i can find.We have a hands free light near basin in kitchen.(pass hand over it and it operates). This also decided to play up.I removed and replaced it and it too was happy. You tell me!
If that is the only reason to buy another cassette its' money down the loo.We have a second cassette so there is no need to dash out to empty the one i use.Truly a life saver if her indoors wants to use it and i haven't emptied it.
