There's a weird mob presently camped at Leycesters Rest campground, about 100km north of Halls Creek. Billeeee, Jules47, MSG & ourselves rocked in here a couple of days ago. Nice free camp on the bank of the Ord River, phone, internet, basic long drop toilets & plenty of room. The water in the river is clear as crystal. Moonrise the night we arrived, the weird mobs camp featuring some excited nomads & sunrise this morning.

Old Halls Creek ruins worth a visit and stay and on the way out see Carolyn's Pool and China Wall. They did have a store and CP at Old Halls Creek at one time. The servo in Halls creek proper did have a shower for a couple of dollars, not sure if they still do.
A visit to the Halls Creeks Info Centre is well worth doing, say hello to Russian Jack for me, nice bit of history there. The main CP in Halls Creek is ok too but don't go outside in town at night.
Funny thing, I don't check out campsites on road department internet sites. If no sign, I tend to assume I can stay. Silly me. Try not to be too pedantic in future, eh. This life is about being stress free, not to have it added by our supposed compatriots.

Definitely not trying to be pedantic or adding to the stress of any camper - but ...
CAMPS 7 WA Site 500 Mary Pool shows 24hour limit
CAMPS 7 WA Site 506 Leycesters Rest shows 24hour limit.
If there is no sign displayed, then I guess it is difficult for it to be enforced. However, those armed with their CAMPS book and/or WikiCamps should be aware of the limitations imposed by councils.

No need to check out websites as rest areas where overnight stopping was allowed had (well they did last year) signs similar to the one below :
As a matter of interest, Binnu mentioned on the sign is also the inland turn off to Hut River Province (has cheap powered and unpowered overnight sites) where "Prince Leonard" etc is, the road in from the highway is mostly bitumen and the remained good quality gravel road. See this link for HRP....
