At Shadycamp, I have witnessed people diving for lures caught on the wire at the Barage!Just down river was a calf, with its leg torn off by a 4m plus croc.......Temporary Australians.. Bill
A few years ago our grand daughter, aged five, visiting from Katherine, had to be reassured there were no crocs in the water before she'd go in at Caloundra.
Seems a five year old had more sense and awareness than these three idiots.

Good girl eh.
I was fishing in the Murray in Vic 4 years ago,,, brain in neutral, sitting on a tree root by waters edge,,,, snapped out of brain fade and looked for crocs,,, then relaxed, remembered I was in Vic.
scared the proverbial out of me for about 2 seconds after 25 years fishing in the NT

We were NP volunteers at Shady camp for 6 weeks. All the time we were having to chase people (idiots) who kept trying to rescue their lures from the water next to the barrage.
Hey Baz, the way it's going won't be long before they will be in Victoria, so stay vigilant mate.
We often hit the water in the Katherine river when up there, down stream of the low level, in the dry it's shallow and flows over the rocks, but always allowed the two beloved kelpies to have first go, dear ole Jack (Daniels) and Bundy (rum) but alas both have now passed on, so hope they don't chuck me in when we go up next month.
Hard to believe that river brushes the bridge in the wet, and has been known to bring some nasties down with it. When the water subsides, we can be sure the unwanted visitors are still there somewhere, our little girls up there are well taught in such matters.
One trip we took the boat up to the Vic river at the roadhouse, no way would those kids dangle an arm over the side.
Son in law snagged a barra, I was supposed to get onto it with the net but had a sleepy little tyke on both knees, no chance to get the net under, so they all went oooohhh when it got off. Tough being a Grandad, hey!

Can't find the link/video due to last weeks croc death at Cooinda being most prominent.
