stotts island nature resort

we are travelling up the coast at the moment, we were going to stay at a freebee called Stotts Island nature reserve, which we were told was very good, it is 14 km NE of Murwillumbah, someone told us that we would not fit our van in.  We have an 8metre, which is 24 ft long caravan, has anyone been there that coul d advise us,  also Yelgum Rest area, 50 km North of Ballina, has anyone stayed there, we have the camps book, but sometimes it is a bit hard to gauge if they are suitable.  Hope we have some  informative feed back thank you so much

Dont know about the stotts resort; Yelgum would not be a problem for any size rig as it is also used as a driver reviver & is off the Hwy a little, all sealed parking more like a car park rather than a camp area.

Centenary Park; north side of ballina township is probibly a better option, leave the hwy & travell nth through the township & its on the right at end of town.

I'm sure yeoeleven has put Stott's Island up on his blog, not able to find it in the short time I have. Put yeoeleven in the search bar at the top of page and go from there.

Hi newcomer,

I have camped at Stotts many times and there is room for the larger caravan, just by the entrance at the right hand turn there is room to reverse in and further in there is an area big enough to use to turn round as well as by the park enough room to park along the fence posts.

Stotts is my favourite although there is room at Yelgun too.

Can't comment on Stott's but I've stayed at Yelgun overnight many times. A large carpark with nice toilets and a playground, picnic tables and a barbeque I think.

Not certain, but I think that the council had erected a 'Strictly no camping' sign at Centenary Park when I was last in Ballina .. XMAS 2013.

Thankou to all who have helped us, you will most likely be hearing from us newcomers in the near future, camps books are good, but sometimes a bit deceiving.  Thanks again guys

Hi Newcomer, another you might do is actually measure your caravan.

8M is very much closer to 26 - 27', than it is to 24'.

Not trying to be pedantic mate, but you were asking a question with regard to the length of your van. LOL.

Regards
