We free camped north of Alice Springs a few nights ago. Near the camp site were cattle yards on private property. Some people who were camped their just had to get through the fence for a "stick beak".
These are the people who get councils offside with free campers.
We came across empty wheelie bins with rubbish all around. Here was I thinking the council bin emptiers couldn't be bothered picking the rubbish up.
What surprised me was the free campers who ignored the stay limit.
Doesn't help those who try to play by the rules.
We are currently at Blue Water Park, free 24 hours site, for one night.
Ground are very clean but I get the impression that some two thirds of the site are occupied by semi permanents.
No wonder lots of RVs drove in and were unable to find a site, we fortunately arrived about 1.30pm and got one of the last sites, although some (back packers) small campers have squeezed in late in the afternoon.
In my mind overstaying the given restrictions are wrong.
As to parking close I have had a tent of with 8 persons pitch so close that I was unable to open my motorhome door, and that was on a caravan park.
Last night at Home Hill a motorhome parked within 60cms of our motorhome, at least he was parked on the drivers side so I could open the RV door.
