Little Yabba Park. S.E.Qld.

On the back road from the Sunshine Coast hinterland ( Maleny, etc.)

Past Connondale, south of Kenilworth.

Beautiful, lush, quiet spot beside Little Yabba Creek.

Modern style drop toilets only.

'Van size area on the west side of the road. Tents etc. more suited to the east side.

Not very large area, 5 'vans with plenty of room. 10 would be a bit squeezy.

Signs say overnight camping only.

Kenilworth Showgrounds.

We drove past it on our way out. Seemed a very popular spot with travelers.

Good second option if Little Yabba Park doesn't suit.

I have bad memories of Murgon. Close on 30 years ago I was in a small group of harley riders who stopped at the tourist info office.
We came out to find a number of the locals ( somewhat unsteady on their feet ) looking at the bikes.
One spat on my bike & snorted back to send one my way.
I gave his clock a sound cleaning & we rode off to Goomeri where the locals were much more pleasant.
Things change, thank heavens.

Since it was a couple years since original post, thought I'd say we stayed there on Saturday night. Thought it was an excellent free camp 5k approx outside Kenilworth. Nicely mowed, clean drop toilets, bbq's, camp fires (3 the night we were there though I think you may have to bring own wood or can buy some up the road towards Kenilworth). Nice easy bushwalk across the creek. (only thing I didn't like was that the bins were full but people still left their mostly bagged rubbish beside the bins instead of taking it with them). Many, many campers in Kenilworth but could have taken more (it was a long week-end and the Maleny showgrounds were closed to camping because of the Wood Expo being on this week-end).
