Had an oZ pig for 5 years and love it as a cooker or woodheater. If you are a bit handy you could make one for a few dollars

Not really handy ,as we are full time on the road and we have no home base it is a bit awkward trying to make things .I may just get a gas bottle and cut that up but the good lady as seen an oz pig working and likes them so I will try and talk her out of one .But I don't  like my chances .

thanks for your comments .

I've seen them operating several times . Pretty good I reckon .

Only thing that stops us getting one is the size and weight.

If you buy one get the extra 45 degree pipe then you can use it just under the awning

Hi
I am new to the forum but have used the Oz Pig for a couple of years
I have been sorting out new billy and camp oven in preparation for a trip in July
Terrific idea and cooks the best steak you will taste
I just saw the new ones at the Cairns Caravan Show and the BBQ plates are coated with an enamel? of some sort now.
That looked even better.

hi there we have a gas bottle modified on our rof rack or burning allways . bought one from a guy making them , cheap as chips heaps of heat and you can cook on it or in it we have once the coals are there good for spuds apples etc ,
lots of ways to do a 9 kg botttle ours is just 2 pieces the top half becomes the stand inverted , the rest becomes you fire base inverted , a butt hings a few tek screws and a grinder and cut off well 15mins and it should be made i should have done one myself
good luck , we looked at the pig trev but thought a bit big and too many bits to assemble each time , also too cook on ours , we just use our webber grill trivet chrome thingamy throw it on too cook throw it off later and stoke her up  this is our in action in tassie
