Hi all, here I am again with yet another question,
It has been mentioned to me today that you might not be able to use WDH on a Holden Tow Bar for the Colorado. Does anyone out there in Colorado land use WDH or heard about it.
No offence intended to the person that gave me the heads up, I appreciate it very much. The answers might also assist that person as well.

Doug, the placard inside the door on our colly says the towbar fitted is not suitable for wdb,and fortunatley our Jurgen van does not require or is capable of having them. If they were needed I would need to replace with a different towbar.
Pete
As a matter of interest, what is the load rating on the sticker attached to the tow bar on your Collie? I run a HR bar and WDH on a 2011 Colorado. Sticker on the bar rates it at the full 3 Tonne towing/300Kg on the ball.
Whent to Holden this morning about this possible problem and turns out no problem at all for my model anyway. All has to be done is buy the Holden WDB Kit and all will be A O K. Was even told the Holden Tow Bar is the same as the HR now. Could even buy the HR WDB Kit if I preferred. The service manager actually said I would be very surprised how well the Colorado will tow. This isn't a problem now anyway with the Avan and don't think it will be in the near future, just covering all bases, must be the old baseball coach in me.
Just as well I went though, I had a peak at my tug and noticed they had fitted a small 7pin round plug and I have a larger one, they say the Q'land one is smaller than the Victorian one, mmmmm, not sure about that one though.
Slight problem getting Canopy and Bull Bar, BB is coming from Brisbane and Canopy from Melbourne, or other way around, forget now. They were saying just pay the $$$$ I take car without and when they arrive will fit in a day for me. I might just hold onto the $$$$ for the next week and see what happens. I don't want them forgetting to keep chasing them up.

They're universally called a WDH (Weight Distribution Hitch) not WDB or as Holden calls them Load Distribution Hitch. For the RG Colorado check page 141 of your vehicle handbook and you'll find they're recommended if 'Vehicle Attitude is Compromised' Ha! The wording of that gives me attitude. I use a HR 275Kg WDH supporting a ball weight of 270Kg (Van laden weight 2470Kg) with the standard 3500Kg Holden tow bar (Hitch receiver). Ozjohn.

Thanks for the terminology clarification John. All this WDH stuff is new to me as the Avan and Prado doesn't need it. I might never need it still but just making sure I have the capability if needed at any stage.

holden dealer phoned today - we are to take the Colorado in to the dealership tomorrow - he will remove the sticker prohibiting the use of WDH (which was attached during the tobar fitting Dec. 2013) and provide a letter from holden verifying WDH use is allowed as it says in the service book. He is following up with GMH re the 'no compliance' plate on the actual towbar issue. This is a legal requirement by ASA. My argument with Holden is 'how do I know the towbar is rated to 3.5ton'. Would you take the word of a car salesman?

Looks like a good out come for both of us by end of today Jenny and Barry. I'm just going to sit back and enjoy towing my home on wheels now. Maybe one day we can sit back and drink to the Colorado together.

holden dealer placed a sticker inside the door today stating the towbar rating and max ball weight - he also removed the previous sticker re use of WDH - sorted at last and ready to 'hit' the road again

I had the same concerns 18 months ago about my RG Colorado when I was fitting up the wiring for my Anderson plug. I noticed a sticker attached to the tow bar saying that the bar was unsuitable for use with a WDH. After a contacting my dealer and getting no answers I emailed GMH head office and received an email from them stating that I should remove the sticker as their engineers had now approved the use of WDH in line with the instructions in the cars instruction manual.
I will be checking the wiring at the Anderson plug for size and voltage to make sure it is what I asked for when I pick the Collie up hopefully Wednesday Rayza so will check for a sticker at the same time. If there is one I will let fly for sure.
