Yes the end of your dreams ......hope everyone's was ok!! We traveled up to the NT last year and came across this ( see attached photo's ) on the way back down to home. I think every one was ok.
I have no idea which insurance company you have KJ or the actual wording they have in the policy about driving "off road".
However, it is usual for insurance companies to make the statement of 'driving off-road' ... but to the best of my knowledge, if you are travelling on a GAZETTED road you should be covered.
Many unsealed roads you would use to get to known camping spots are actually gazetted roads and you should therefore be covered on those.
But again ... read the policy documents very carefully, seek clarification from your insurance company .. and then get it in writing.

I checked my insurance, my 4x4 is covered on named roads as well as un-named tracks, even on the beach and the more pics of wrecked vans I seen the better I feel about getting the ESC system fitted to van.
