HOLDEN COLORADO WINS

Yep, after driving all the twin cab utes over the last few weeks I went back and had a second longer drive on my own of the Mazda BT50 and still not happy so rang Holden to see if I could drive Colorado with Highway Tyres on as the demo had Mud Tyres on. They said they only had that demo model I could drive on my own BUT they offered to change wheels to original with HT fitted. I took up the offer.

After a two hour test drive in 100km zones, dirt roads, steep hills, deliberate stop starting and through the CBD here in Townsville I went back to put the screws on. The demo model had all the extras already fitted and the final offer has won me. I have to sell base camp first, however I am going to talk to my super fund and see if I can take money out of my pension a/c then put back in after base camp settled. A couple of quick phone calls and one visit to centerlink I hope to be able to go put a deposit down to hold until money comes though.

Fingers crossed and anything else that can be crossed.

All going well there could be a new tug in the driveway of my daughters next week. No more Prado problems smile

Frank, I grit the teeth, hold my breath and ask the good lord that the tug starts every time I put the key in ignition, I think it's time to part company mate. The Army bloke that worked on it here in Townsville is a BT50 driver so a bit disappointed I think but I was jut not as happy or comfortable as the colorado. Plus it already has all plus more fitted that I wanted.

That's the basic model John, the one I'm looking at is mid range with heaps of extras already fitted. More than happy with their offer.

Nice one Doug.  Good feeling once the decision is finally made isn't it.

Hope the finance side can get sorted and you can get the new tug sooner rather than later.

Cheers,

Gary

Gary, still working on it all. It's not finace as such, borrowing from myself in one area and putting in another, then paying myself back later. Confused? So am I.

Bill, Didn't like the Triton for a few reasons but really comfortable in the Colorado and as said I am happy with the final offer, might try and tighten the screws just a tad more though before final decision.

We tow with a Nissan Patrol GQ, if we were to upgrade we'd be looking at Colorado also.
Good choice Doug.

Bugga, missed out by "That Much".

Just had call from Dealer and he sold the Demo I was trying for at 9.00am. People looked at it late yesterday and were on the door step thismorning waiting. Bugga again. It was a good offer though. Someone is a happy camper for sure just not this little black duck.

Never mind, back to the drawing board, so to speak.

Well done Mate ..

As I said to you, you are the only one you have to please Doug ..

A lot easier once the decision is made eh ! .. Whatever you chose, you still have to make it your own and you'll have a ball doing it !

Enjoy the upgrade !

Jon

Hello doug
bad luck on that one but there are a lot more demo's out there, the dealer should be able to find another one if he wants a sale

All sorted Ken. I went back in and through a cash deposit on the table and said lets talk business. 3 hours later an offer was made and I am now the proud owner of a brand new Holden LT twin cab ute auto diesel. Canopy on the back and other gooodies needed on a 4x4 to boot. All up one happy camper. Pick it up late next week or early week after. I'm like a big kid at christmas. It's been a lot of homework over the last month and glad with outcome.

Now back to GN business.

Hi Dougie

Good one, I have also been running around looking at updating my tug after a also run of expenses and break downs.

After lots of reading, some tension I settled on a Nissan Navara V6 just in front of a Colorado by little in the way of comfort.

Now for a few good years of easy motoring for both of us. Ralph.

You are not wrong Ralph. It sure will be nice to get in the tug, put key in ignition and turn on and START. I have had trouble since first getting the Prado when on gas and had it looked at a few times but never could get it right, then the latest problem originally started back in Feb this year while over in Tassie.

First brand new car for me so really looking forward to it.

Finding out that the Q'land Motor Rego people are difficult to deal with and just LOVE "Red Tape". It's all due to being a Mexican buying in cane toad territory I think. They must have a thing against us Mexicans smile
