Red Hatters on the road

Heading north for the winter and wondering how many red hatters are doing the same. Hope to visit chapters along the way, it's always such fun to share stories. MOTH is happy to amuse himself while I'm off in my red hat - in fact, I think he enjoys the peace and quiet..............

We're often asked this question when we're out and about in groups, dressed in our purple clothing and red hats. We're part of the Red Hat Society, an international group for ladies over 50. Purely a social group, the only requirement is that one wears a red hat and is prepared to have fun smilebiggrin

You didn't think I noticed those did yousmile

There are a lot of us Red Hatters around, world wide group actually.  How many other lady GN's are Red Hatters?

Main requirement is to be prepared to have fun!!!!!

and Doug, please stop picking on Bill, you can tell by his avatar that he is a great bloke...well that's what Pisces tells me...all blokes are great blokes but fishermen are really great!!!

My wife's best friend is a "queen" in one of these groups, we met them along the Murray last year and she did her best to get my wife interested, but not so.
Now firstly let me say, that I think the principle of a group of older ladies socializing is great especially for the single widow etc. but the dressing up, no way ! especially all the badges and bling as they call it.

I was quite embarrassed at some of the things they got up to while they were on morning teas (more like wines) reminded me of a bunch of geriatric girl guides, reliving their lost childhood.
Yes I got dragged along as chauffeur, but sat in the bar while they did their thing in the restaurant.

Still everyone to their own.

I will repeat though the the principle of a social group for lonely ladies is good idea, just the silly fancy dress I didn't like.

My sister who lives at Runaway Bay (Gold Coast) has been a Red Hatter for several years.  Is always off somewhere to a Red Hatters get together .. NZ last year I think.

Hey Brian!!! We are a bunch of silly old geriatrics, so you got that one right...... As to our antics, yes, we are like kids let out of school and love a good laugh. That's why men and kids are banned from our outings The bling thing is also part of the fun. I'm glad you're like most RH husbands and stay well away while we have our fun - mine does!
