In December 2010 Floods destroyed the Gascoyne Junction Hotel, caravan park and Road House, among other buildings, see;

A new Roadhouse (includes Pub & Café) and Caravan Park has been built and is open for business, up on higher ground.  Some finishing touches are still being done (eg; retic for lawns, kerb & guttering, fitting out of campers kitchen (fridge installed while I was there).

Prices in May 2014 were $10 unpowered and $15 with power will be on grass when it grows.  For double slabbed sites with power it is $30 per night and $40 per night slabs and ensuites.   They also have new cabins. 

Gascoyne Junction is 171 kms east of Carnarvon on a new double bitumen road.  You can also access the campground at Kennedy Range National Park from here (camping fees) 50 kms north of Gascoyne Junction on dirt road with river crossing but check with tourist centre in Gascoyne Junction for road conditions and suitability for you rig before you go. 

Two vans at the caravan park left there caravans there and did a day trip out to the ranges with their 4WD's only.   I did it with my 2WD.

Nice now Alan, showers are modern with mixer taps and nice and hot. 

I showed them how to fix Wombat mesh around the park while I was there, they said they had heard about our WA Wombat and didn't want him spoiling their park.... wink biggrin biggrin  biggrin

Looks great. We stayed there in 07 in the old C/P and not much to say for it other than the photos of a previous flood had amazed us at high the river can get. Also went inland further and stayed at Cobra Station. Now that was interesting. A fair bit of history around there and a great pool of water to canoe on in the nearby Lyons river. We had ball paddling about. Not flowing thank goodness.
Further along again is Mt Augustus. Australia's biggest monolith. Also worth a visits if you have the time.
