I presume you are coming into Brisbane from Ipswich way. I am not sure where you are going wrong, but the Ipswich Motorway is never a toll road. You must be getting on the Logan Motorway which is a toll way.
Not sure where you are headed but after Ipswich you can turn right and go along the old road of Camira to Browns Plains and onto Beenleigh without going on any toll ways.
These money grabbing machines just get you so exasperated one doesn't always .........................................
We are heading back to Underwood from Laidley.
Want to take the motorway(s) as far as possible towards Underwood then get off it (them) before we strike the dreaded toll.
The tolsl may be after you leave the Ipi on the "gateway" perhaps but I really don't know.
My little computational friend says the best way drops me in the $ hole 3 times on this trip if I'm not careful.
If we get off at Rocklea (Granard Rd) exit will that do the job or have we been caught already?
Sorry to be so vague but it's all a bit of a puzzle.
Apparently I heard from another source that my ute is now classed as a commercial vehicle & attracts an increased charge as a category 3 or something just because it looks like a work truck.
Qld Govt apparently uses the premise that if it walks like a duck & sounds like a duck, it must be a duck.
All in all I must be a bit of a goose already as I can't seem to get the ageing old brain around this.
Why does Campbell get to drive his Merc on his tollways for a lesser rate than my ratty old Falcon ute? Go figure!
Thanks for listening, feel better now the rant is over.
If you drive in until On the Ipswich Motorway Until you hit Granard Road, Rocklea you never go anywhere near toll road. Turn rignt onto Granard Road, then turn right at the third set of traffic lights onto Beaudesert Road, then along Beaudesert and take the left at the first set of traffic lights onto Boundary Road, along Boundary Road and turn right and turn right at the second set of traffic lights onto Beenleigh Road and the. Follow that for a long, long way until you get to Underwood. There are other ways of course.
your ute will only be classed as a work vechile if its regeristed in a busness name .
That depend on what state you are talking about. In Tas, a vehicle doesn't have to be registered to a business name to be a classed as a work vehicle. It was the same in Vic and NSW when we worked out of there, our bus was classed as a work vehicle because we used it for our work. Same with our cars, always been classed a work vehicles for tax and not registered in any business name. That was a few years ago now, so it may have changed, but not for trades people who use their vehicles as part of the employment and have no business name. When we do any work, we always claim for th use of our bus for tax purposes and have no business name, or company.
Never been on a toll way, never had the need, much prefer to avoid them and as the only city we go through is Melbourne, by pass them all.
Thanks everyone,
It's not that we're tight, we just don't agree with the whole toll-road idea so won't use them on principle.
Took all that advice in & completed the trip without tolls...................as far as I know.
The Granard Rd response from Bushandbeach was the ants pants & did the job almost to a T. Thanks folks!
My little computational friend when asked to avoid tolls actually avoided all motorways & routed me through the 'burbs' so was less than successful.
Oh well, should have bought the expensive one I suppose.
As an aside.........................how do you good natured can toaders put up with this complicated American style road system.
All seems a bit of a shame that it's so hard to get about in your lovely city.
Actually took the time to write to your Minister for Transport saying just that...... & received a lovely reply from a young lass apologising profusely & finishing up with
"how do you think we feel, we have to live in it?"
As a further aside we travelled from Laidley via Brizzy up to Yandina today with a few business stops at Warana etc & the computational friends speed camera, traffic light camera, traffic management camera, safety camera, roundabout camera, doing your fly up camera WARNING buzzer just went off big time, all the time.
Glad we brushed our hair this morning so we looked presentable to whoever looks at those things.
Had enough of the coast, can't wait to get inland again.
Next turn left.........YOU BET!
