Sounds a good trip for you, do you have a pink high heel up on top and ribbons flapping in the breeze out back? Would be easy to see you if so.

I wish!!! I do have pink and purple hair though - does that count ? Priscilla was so named before we bought her and, as a tribute to her former owner, now deceased, we kept the name. Our previous rig was called "Slowpoke" which says it all biggrin

I was in Hay recently... Very RV friendly! Great free camp too. And the local butcher had some great meats. The old gaol museum was worth a visit too ($4, donation) Enjoy! Wiki camps app is also good for dog friendly info, although I will be trying the site you mentioned, not heard of it before, so thanks for that

I was in Hay for over a week last year and found it to be a great town, I stopped at the Sandy Point free camp.

We have passed through/stayed at Bourke, a number of times, most recently last year. The caravan park in town (Mitchell CP) takes dogs. They have strict rules about taking dogs outside the park for walks and toiletting - but given some of the irresponsible behaviour by dog owners that I've witnessed, in so many places, I think that is quite fair enough on their part. We used to stay at Kidmans Camp at North Bourke, before gaining our furry travel companion, 3 years ago; it does not take dogs. Bourke is not a place I'd want to be bush camping, unless with a large group.

Wendyv, Bourke actually has much LESS crime than Tamworth(NSW) and that info from the partner of a detective based in Bourke and the crime stats in the local paper. I would feel safer camping near Bourke than Tamworth.

Mays bend is a good camp just past Kidmans camp and is on the right and right on the darling river.

Agree with Frank. we've been to Mays Bend twice no problems what so ever PLUS at the OLD North Bourke Bridge on the Eastern side there is heaps of room to camp right by the river and the paddle steamer gives you a toot as they pass.

Thanks to all for your replies, all information is great. Last time we stayed at Hay, there was a long drop toilet and nothing else, how things have changed! The information centre provided wonderful amenities for travelers. This prompted me to write to Council, thanking them for making RVers so welcome. I pointed out the fact that we stayed longer than planned, spending money in many businesses. We received a lovely letter of appreciation from them.
