Discounts For Interstate Holders of Seniors Cards In WA

Interstate Seniors in possession of a valid Seniors Card from their home state are able to access cash concession fares when travelling on Transperth bus, train and ferry services, as well as government funded regional town services.

Interstate Seniors are not entitled to the free travel entitlement offered to Western Australian Seniors.

www.transperth.wa.gov.au Email enquiries@pta.wa.gov.au

Note from me:   Always "try" your card for those who offer seniors discounts (or pension card if you have one), some traders or organisations, food outlets etc accept them ok, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I always ask if my Seniors Card is accepted everywhere I go mate. Sometimes it's not much discount but a discount is a discount.

Sometimes I even get the Seniors, Concession and Auto Club cards out and say with a smile, "ok which one gives me the best discount?" smile

Before we became state seniors entitled to the card (60 in WA) and were going "around the block" we had the private National Seniors Cards (annual fee) for over 50's and it was surprising how many organisations accepted that, zoos, museums, ferry, movies, tours etc, etc around various states. http://nationalseniors.com.au/be-rewarded/members-benefits

Even my barber in Kingsley (northern Perth suburb) gives me a good discount on a Seniors Card.

Only problem is he no longer wants to see the card when I'm paying for the haircut. When I asked if that was because he recognised me, he said: "No. You look the right age."

Drove home muttering, but a discount is a discount!

Cheers, Tony

A few years ago (in my late 50s) when living in Sydney I ordered a cappuccino from the Gloria Jeans outlet next door. The new Pretty Young Thing behind the counter charged me less than the usual price, and when I queried it she said it included the Seniors discount. Didn't know whether to be offended or grateful!

I've noticed the same with seniors free coffee at Macca's and Hungry Jacks, they take one look at the grey hair and don't bother asking for it, LOL!   Noticed a few others like that as well!.   I don't mind a bit aww

For those under their state seniors card age and doing a trip around Australia, the private National Seniors Card is worth the money (or was then) it more than paid for itself many times over with the discounts received at various places, I would just ask them if they gave seniors discounts and showed them the card.   Whether this might have been confused with the state card I was never sure, but it was accepted. aww

Yep, we found that a senior card works over there but a pension card meant nothing.
