GreenHill Lake, Ararat, the end is nigh

Just researching a bit on one of our fav camping spots and found this article from the Ararat Advertiser.

http://www.araratadvertiser.com.au/story/2148513/bypass-preferred-route-determined/

It shows a map of councils preferred route for a town bypass.

Not withstanding the hoohaw over the future management of the lake reserve, whether a committee or leased to a caravan park owner to develop; the map seems to show the councils preferred track is running down the fence line on the side of the lake where the majority of campers are.

Now I know VicRoads may not go there, but if they do, considering the amount of heavy vehicles that travel this highway day and night, and the locality of the truck stop on the highway just near the lake.  No campers will get any sleep if camping beside the lake; beside the bypass...

Yep the end is nigh....

The highway will not run anywhere near the lake it will cut across at Warryatkin Rd towards the jail a good 2 ks from the lake and yes there is a lot of controversy about the free camping at this time and so no one knows what is going to happen until such time as the council work out the best way for it as there is a lot of concern over insurance risks.
We live in the Ararat Region in Buangor and the Bypass section for here will be finished in the next twelve months with the dual highway running from Beaufort to Buangor and the contractors are Leighton's but it still a way of before the Buangor to Ararat section is started coming out well back from the airport .
