Was looking at a Toyota v6 auto rv with toilet shower, and genset, for $9500 in US.Price over there are ridiculous, compared with the inflated ones here. Bill
This one has solar on the roof, also a drop down TV etc.
I don't think you need a special licence for this one, just a normal car licence, at least in WA.
I agree about Avan customer service having had an Avan camper trailer from new at one time, but remember the prime and vehicle body (not the van part) is a Fiat (I think) so only the van part is made by Avan.
They seem to make an nice motorhome though, a couple on here have them and may like to comment on the quality.
The previous owners are buying a caravan I understand, the motorhome is in excellent condition and has never been in an accident I was told. Been regularly serviced too by a fastidious owner.
Out of my price range too, but would be ideal for those with the money to have a good motorhome with everything done to it and one that has been well looked after.
Vic I believe that any vehicle over 4.5t GVM requires more than a car licence to drive Australia wide, and this unit is 6505kgs GVM.. so would need a LR licence..
Having said that I have a HR licence and I could well see us driving that.. It would be very comfortable.

The GVM on this one is only 4005 kgs Bob, not 6505 GVM or 4.500 kgs....

"Australian Design Regulations (ADR, Ref 1 ), Australian Vehicle Standards Rules (AVSR, Ref 2) and Australian Road Rules (ARR, Ref 3) for motor vehicles are the primary sources, since these are uniform (Ref 1) for Australia or are model rules (Refs 2, 3) adopted by the states and territories. It is also important to observe that a plethora of Australian Standards may also impact on changes you are considering.
Drivers Licence
Your normal drivers licence (Class C) allows you to drive vehicles up to 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass (GVM, the maximum recommended weight a vehicle can be when loaded)."

I didn't notice that Bob, that was off the dealers advert.
The last lost of info came off the manufacturers website for that model with single beds.....
Confusing to say the least!
They could have built them on 2 different chassis Vic, I have a mate looking for something like that but he would need to know which GVM is correct, I would personally prefer it if the GVM was 6505 as it would allow me a bigger margin for the rubbish I like to carry...
on that sounded real good until I got to the bit about avan, I know somebody who has an avan, can you tell me Vic if that one comes with two nulla nymphs?
Hey wombat mate, the twins loved it down the beach during Ita's visit. They reckon the rain lashing them was great and the wind blowing through their hair just fantastic.

Got some clarified info on this van, only a normal car licence is needed, it has a Redarc duel battery system fitted and solar panels which only add about 15 kgs to the overall GVM...
This is the dealers ad, but the GVM shown on the ad is incorrect, see ad for pricing details and some pic's etc;
I looked at and through this van recently and was very impressed, it had everything you would need, only 10,551 kms, being sold by a dealer in WA.
It would be especially good for solo's or a couple wanting single beds. If I had the money I would buy it myself;
