Lorikeet in Bottle Brush

Trying to photograph one of these parrots is like trying to photograph a flea with feathers. Talk about active! But I managed to get this shot yesterday while hundreds  of the birds feasted on the blossoming bottlebrush trees in the street outside my place.

Gday...

Good one Gary.

A comfy seat, camera set on very fast shutter, tele lens, tripod, can of comfort (or cuppa) and lots of patience.

And doesn't digital help ... just keep taking em until ya get at least one.

Still better than trying to do portraits of kids

cheers - John

Nicely composed and exposed image Gary, I like it.

Rainbow Lorikeet's certainly are photogenic birds aren't they!smile

Thanks, all y'all. No comfy chair, John, or tripod. I used the 55-200mm lens though, and sports mode for the shutter speed. But the camera was hand-held cos the damn things flit all over the place and it's the devil's own job to keep up with where they are. But you're right about digital. And next time I'll use burst mode as well.

You did extremely well with these active little critters Gary. I've got lots and lots of photos of a blurred wing as they disappear.
