RTA TRUCK INSPECTION POINTS;

On a day trip today we saw a motor home& at a guess about 5-6 ton being inspected in a RTA roadside truck inspection bay.

Cant deny that it does not happen; we were pulled into on about two yrs back with a tug & van.

 Frank, just north of Taree, mid north coast of NSW for the motor home & Rollingstone, Nth Qld for us.

I may be wrong, but do the RTA truck inspectors have the power to pull you over, if you are not a truck or must they have police in attendance, I thought that I read this on a forum a while back.

 RMS/RTA motor vehicle inspectors are exactly that and have full authority to pull any vehicle over or visit the garaged address and inspect it. That after all is their job, they also from time to time call on AIS examiners and take a list of vehicles they have recently inspected and go and check them over to see that they are right..

Fully agree with Bob, have had them knock on the door quite a few years ago to check a vehicle after it got a pink slip. Lucky it was all good because they went over it from top to bottom.
