Being a twin tub they would be pretty good. If you have one and the room, should be good. If you are CVParking why not just use their machines, even just stay in a park once a week or so or maybe look at Laundromats.

Personally, I just hand wash with wool mix in a bucket of cold water, no need to rinse then but I am solo and only have a single sheet on the cot.

I bought a small twin tub off the internet, brand new, cost me all of $104 dollars including delivery.

It wasn't a companion, but one similar, and that was nearly two years ago. I live full time in the van, in a caravan park so the machine is used every day
and it has never missed a beat and is still going strong.

We have taken it with us when we travel down south to see our kids, and works very well on our inverter. They are also very light and it sits in the back of our ford sedan.

So all in all, it has paid for itself !!

Jan

Good on ya Jan the better half seems to think she would like her own machine,
That is cheaper than twin tub we seen. is yours built into your rig or is it portable?

No its just portable. It sits in the annexe when we are staying put for a while, then it packs into the back seat of the car when we travel.

I really love my little twin tub !!!!

Love ours, we only take it for longer trips other wise we use the machines in the Parks (if they are clean), over all its a good investment as it can become expensive to wash in Laundrys.

I looked at one yesterday and they hold approx. 2kg of clothes and the machine weighs about 12 kgs. all up - they are not very big but I imagine they would wash a double/queen sheet on its own - not sure. Someone that has one would probably be able to tell you that - the price was $199 at BCF.

Pleasure Doc. You obviously haven't come across the resident wombat on here yet, he is a major problem mate and I tell you that for free.

The twin tub I purchased from ebay a couple of years ago ($81 delivered if memory serves correct) is a great little machine, does a 5kg wash and spins really well. We used it at home when the house washer died until I had decided what I wanted to replace it with. Very light and easy to use. I'm not a big fan of public machines after seeing what goes in some of them.

Best money we spent.. washes really well and if we hand wash a few things we still spin dry them. Have seen what goes into some of the C/P machines ( fruit pickers, miners and some dog gear). Saw the machine advertised at Rays Outdoors for $149.00. Only weak spot is the drain hose and we put duct tape around the whole pipe to give it so body.

What do you think about using a portable in a caravan park ..do you think it would be permitted or not.?

We use ours under the awning and fill with the hose as it is not built in. Some parks have signs to say if you have a washer on board they want an extra charge but we haven't paid but still washed. Big thing in a park is to dispose of the water properly. We use ours on a milk crate covered with a towel to stop slippage and this makes it easier to drain into a bucket and then empty into sullage or onto trees/gardens

SWMBO would love her own washing machine in the van but I keep showing her how they can't be built into the en-suite.

Of course there is only room in the patrol for my Engel, push bike and kayak gear.

Then there's the issue of what would she do while I set up the van at each new site.  SWMBO goes off to check out the laundry while I set up, returning just in time to make a cuppa & something to eat.

Jayco Gypsy ... What is the brand & model of yours  ...  I like the 5kg capacity  ....  Just in case SWMBO sees this on her new iPad toy.

I'll have to have a look in daylight hours (no light in the shed) This one on ebay looks like mine.

We have had the Companion twin tub for a couple of years.

We only take it with us if going longer than a week.

The spin dry section really gets going.

Great unit.

Dick.
