A'Van HT Security and screen doors.

Has anyone replaced the doors on your A'Van hardtop recently?  We have a 2008/09 Liam HT and are a bit worried that the screen is going to go the same way that the window screens have gone over the last couple of years.  We would also like to replace the door as well as we have to lock it at night as there is no security screen door on the unit.

 Hi LeeDJ,

We have an Avan Owen and our door screen has completely let go on this trip what a nuisance I have to slide it back and forth without any of those stretchy things to help keep it upright  and of course when operating this way the front solid upright keeps jumping out of the top and bottom track, I dread to think of the cost of a new screen door, I also have been thinking about a new door including a security screen and was quoted around $2000 from a Caravan Repair Shop on the Gold Coast but shall start making a few more inquires when we get back to civilisation

i have just rang the Brisbane Avan to get a price on a replacement screen door $200 fitted not to bad

We have a Avan Liam HT and think the door was a big mistake, I had a "conversation" some time with the owner of Avan and told him the split door might be ok in a horse stable but wasn't much use in a caravan, ours leaks dust when on dirt roads, also no lockable screen door was a joke. I have noticed at some caravan shows that other caravan builders were going the same way with their doors

I did have a form for replacement door from someone on the Sunshine Coast but have misplaced it. We are about to head off around the block after Easter so hope the screen door doesn't do the same as yours Dave. As a precaution we have one of those cheap magnetic screens that we can put up if necessary. The same thing happened to our window screens and we ended up making our own midgee screens with velcro sewed on and adhesive hoops on the screen frame. I had to put a pop rivet in each bottom corner but at least we don't get any insects through the holes in the screens where the cords go through. They may look good when they are new but are very impractible these fancy folding screens and blinds.
