Which sat are trying to find????

Which sat (if any) does it "find"

The older one will find any in the meters spectrum. Is the 6906 looking for the right sat?

May need to go through menu.

From left field make sure the 6906 is looking for a sat and not free to air TV first (ie maybe in menu) or another spectrum. A satphone did this once to me searched mobile networks and found netwrk XXXX but as I was not a subscriber it had done its job and was "locked" onto the GSM network and so didn't bother to connect me to the satellite. It took me 3 hours sitting in a hotel in Nhulunbuy (NT) to work that one out, going through ALL the menu settings. Selected sat only and bingo - connected in less than 3 mins.

Haven't used this model but others may have specific info.

For the first time in a economical digital meter, you are now able to view the actual channel on the screen of the meter. Now you can quickly and accurately align the satellite AND you can instantly check the stability of the channel right on the screen of the meter. Transponders, Frequency, Symbol Rate, Polarity, and other settings can be modified by the user. There is never a need to send your meter in for a upgrade.
Meter never needs to be returned for re-calibration due to the unique calibration system built in to the meter. Each time the meter boots up it automatically calibrates for optimum performance so you can align each install with confidence.

The Satlink WS-6906 has a GREEN "LOCK" indicator light to positively ID the satellite you are looking for, as well as a signal level meter for fine tuning. This Satlink WS 6906 satellite signal meter is simple and convenient for setting and aligning a satellite dish. Using the parameters of the satellite found in the meter, you can set and align a satellite dish quickly. The Satlink WS6906 satellite finder can easily and accurately aim your dish plus view the channel while aiming the dish. If you ever used a Birdog, you may have noticed that peaking the dish using the Birdog isn't as accurate as using the receiver itself. With the Satlink you won't have that problem, it has a satellite tuner built into the meter.

Optus C1 Sat. (156.0 E) is the one I use and the unit is set up for that.

I havent had a problem locking on with this unit in the past. I also have used it Lots of times over the past two years and it has worked well.

It has just happened in the last 3 weeks not being able to actually lock onto the Sattelite . No signal strength on the meter. I have tried various cables to make sure the cable is not the problem.

I am getting a lock on the satellite using the Needle type meter so the dish is orientated correctly. Also the TV is getting the signal and working ok.

If you connect the old "Satellite Finder" between the SatLink and the dish, do you still get a normal signal level on the "Satellite Finder"? If not, can you measure 13V or 18V at the SatLink's socket?

Does the receiver have a loop-through output? If so, you could connect the receiver to the dish in the normal way and then connect the SatLink to the loop-through output. Prior to connecting the SatLink, configure its LNB power setting to OFF. This setup will ensure that the dish gets its LNB power from the receiver rather than the SatLink.

We are in SA and have the same Satlink which we bought in Perth last year.

Ours stopped working too and all we got was a red line not the green one to lock on. We had to send ours back to Osborne Park and when he checked it, told us there was nothing wrong with it. Sent it back and of course now is working perfectly!

Let us know what you are told please.

A short time ago the SF-3239 Digital Satellite Finders had to be reconfigured due to system changes, could this also be the case with WS-6906?

Just a thought as it sounds like a similar scenario.

If you have not used it for a while you may find the download frequency it is looking for is incorrect.

the new frequency is 12567MHz
make sure it is set to vertical polarisation
22KHz is off

Well I went to Access Antennas in Osborne Park Perth. They had a look put it on the dish and there it was "WORKING"

I have always used it Set on the named channel INFO Optus C1 and it has worked well there for 2 years.

Now he told me you had it on the wrong Channel The channel below the INFO channel, is Al Jazeera Optus C1

It works on this now but not on the INFO ?

The only difference I can see is the Transponder Frequency on the INFO is 12407 on Al Jazeera 12136

glad it is sort of working

according to VAST you should be looking for the download frequency of 12567MHz which may be part of your problem.

all other digital satfinders are set to lock on this frequency.

see if you can find a channel on your meter that has that freq and try it using that.

Yes working fine.

I have only ever used this for finding the Satellite and fine tuning for the best Signal.

All the other gear on it ? ? ?

It has worked well for me over about two years.

The Manual is in my opinion a waste of time. I read it and re read it but cant actually understand 90% of it.

I think with this sort of gear "you Only Get what you pay for"

I also find the Satellite locator in the "WIKICAMPS" App very useful.

My set up routine now is.

Get the Samsung Tablet out and fire up Wikicamps. Then the Satellite locator application. This points me exactly to the Satellite and I can immediatly see if I have a clear line of sight to the Satellite.

Get the Dish and its stand set up in the general direction of the Satellite.

Attach the WS 6069 Satlink unit. Lock onto the satellite and get the best signal strength.

Then attach the Coaxial cable to the Sat box. usually only takes ten minutes to be watching the Telly.

thanks for the quick reply, so do you think it is better than the current sat finder offered by Access-antennas ? they say it only takes 2 minutes after setting up 4 times???

AFAICT, the "INFO 156" channel was available via Aurora. The Aurora service was due to be switched off on 31 December 2013. However, Wikipedia states that the last uplink was in February 2014.

hi all, this is the reply I received from Satlink re the WS6906 and the 6933, i asked what was the difference between them.

thank you for your enquiry.the difference is as below:
ws6906 can view the actual channel on the screen of the meter,while ws6933 can't,it just help to look for satellite signals,and show some data on the screen.also WS-6906 can find all the FTA channels in your location.
and both of them nearly have the same price.
as i am concerned,if you must choose one only between the 2 items,i will recommend the ws6906.

Hi everyone,

The issue with various satfinders is this- some like the WS 6906 are not capable of decoding the DVB-S2 signal so they are set up to find a Free to Air channel such as AlJazeera which is broadcast in DVB-S format which these meters can decode. These meters can also decode the Foxtel signal which has a download frequency of 12438MHz.

Meters such as the SF3239 and the newer "Devisor" meter are able to decode the DVB-S2 signal so they can lock on to the Vast download frequency of 12567MHz

I have this meter. I have tried many times to contact Satlink both on the Australian and U.K. Website but they do not respond. The links to software on their respective webpages are broken and do not work. If you purchase one of these meters you are on your own, no supplier help is available. Why take the risk, buy something else that has support.

Mine finally Karked itsels about 3 years ago. Bought one of these and it has worked flawlessly ever since.

The original post is from 2014, but as I have the same looking satking sat finder (they call it the marriage saver) as the original post, I shall contribute

Met a couple in a free camp with the same satellite system as myself, they could not get anything on their satking
He had purchased his marriage saver second hand, saw it working and not used it for a few years, as he was at home, and just updated his particulars, as the sat dish was already set up
I put mine on, and saw the signal, and adjusted their dish, with no problems

After TV was running OK, a man came along and put us wise

It was something similar to what KFT has already said
Every so often things change, if you have not used the satking marriage saver for a few years, you have to go back to Access Antennas for an update

Hope that this is helpful to someone in the future

I have no idea about the backup from Satking websites

I can only say that Access Antennas, in Bunbury West Australia, sell them
This mob have a good name for customer service, and I am one of their happy customers

As an add-on to the original post from elliemike in 2014

I have just found myself in the same boat, (ie) Access Antennas Satellite receiver getting nothing from the sat dish

I had not used the Satellite system for about 18 months, due to Covid and other things that had cropped up

Following my own advice I went into Access Antennas in Bunbury WA today.

Kevin, the person I spoke to, gladly put my Sat finder onto their set up, to see what was wrong

It appears that the Sat Finder was looking for a TV channel which was just not there

How this had happened I have no idea? Perhaps because of my not so mobile hands, I may have accidentally pushed a button, without knowing it

To make a long story short, I now have Satellite TV

So a very big shoutout to Kevin, and Access Antennas, in Bunbury WA

Total cost to me was zero, and being local to the area I did offer to pay
