Between Warrnambool and Portland. $5 per night, excellent spot. Green grass, don't know how it would be in Winter, might be a bit boggy. Great spot though. Toilets there that are maintained, must bring everything with you.

A bit more info about this camp near Tyrendarra, just east of Portland, VIC.

Turn south off the A1 (Princes Hwy) at Thompsons Road - signposted "River Outlet". This is a bit hard to see but it looks like this.
Follow the sealed Thompsons Road to the end. It becomes a dirt road for the last 200 metres - but a good solid road.
It was a chilly and overcast day, with showers on and off when I stayed so the photos are not startling. I stayed only one night.
If you are into fishing, kayaking or boating this could be a good spot for a longer stay.
There is a track to walk to the mouth of the river and out to the beach. However, the river mouth was silted up when I was there and it had backed the river up so the track was "flooded". Yes I COULD have got my feet wet ... but I chose not to as it was just too chilly.
Long-drop toilets are clean and well maintained - but are about 150metres from the campground down the track toward the river. There is no potable water or grey water restrictions, pets are allowed, and fires are allowed - in proper fireplaces (eg my choofer). Telstra mobile/internet coverage is available.
I am sure it would be a more pleasant camp in sunny weather.
Some other photos for your interest attached.
Cheers - John
