This area sure does have great views & handy to the CBD.
This area, for many years was the after hours hangout of car hoons.
Illegal street races, burnouts, general hooning about and crowds.
I drove through there a few weeks ago and parts looked very uninviting.
Rubbish was scattered all about.

Yes, I saw the TV re this, and I must say, that that area of our city should never, and was never designe4d for bloody backpackers.
Now it is this type of campers that gives the RV industry a bad name.
I do not mind back packers whether they be Aussies aor overseas tourists, but fair suck of the old S!@#$@&e.
Yes, of course find them and move them on. I do not have the answer, but there is a place for camping, and large cities CBD areas is not one of them.
We in the RV industry do not need this sort of adverse news reporting.

I used to work in Riverside Drive, West End, in a previous life (pre GNing).  I remember once a german motorhome (i.e. right hand drive etc) camping in one of the parking bays for approximately three weeks.  Along came the weekend of "the great duck race"  - they were moved on - and came back after the weekend and stayed for another week.

I've stayed in the city when I had to be there early the next morning, and I can imagine situations (like needing medical treatment) when you might need to spend a period of time in the CBD. Or you might even want to stay overnight in order to go to the shops.  I for one cannot afford the hefty CP fees, and it's a problem if you really need to be there. But why would any tourist want to stay in a city street for their holiday?
