Just wondering if anyone who reads this post will be in North Queensland between 16-18 May this year?????? The great wheelbarrow race (www.greatwheelbarrowrace.com/) will be run between Mareeba and Chillagoe over these dates and has now become one of the most promising regional fundraising events in Australia, not to mention what an amazing weekend it is!!
I'll be running the 145km solo but cannot do so without a marshall to volunteer... and most of our marshalls are travellers there for a good time. I was hoping this post might raise a few eyebrows of interest, not to mention volunteer's hands, to assist with and enjoy this event in May...?
If you're keen or in the area, could you let me know ASAP please???
I was a marshal for the wheelbarrow race a couple of years ago. Quite enjoyed the experience. The van I was in had 8 runners (wheelbarrow pushers) in their team & they did only 15 second stints each & changed over. My head was spinning a bit from so many stops in a 30km leg. CMCA members make upmost of the army of marshals. Best of luck for your run.
It's amazing fun right!!? They're having difficulty getting hold of marshalls as more teams are joining this year, so if anyone can recommend / repost / suggest where I might be able to find people who would be travelling through that area in May, i'd be incredibly grateful!!
