I see no humour in this ongoing incident, I'm sure the families of those on board the plane don't see the funny side of it either.no

Yet another Negative comment, hmmhmm   You know the world is a much nicer place, when it has a little humour in it, ??smile   It has always been the Aussie way, Same as It has always been the Aussie way to feel Compassion And assist however possible, whenever confronted by any Catastrophe  or Emergency,

I was at the clean-up directly after the Black Saturday Bushfires, and if you where there and heard the Aussie Humour, Blended in with the care and compassion offered by all, Well Santa I think you would be wondering,   WHY you made that comment ?? -- I might add the person who I admired and assisted the most, was a young family man, who lost just about everything, BUT he was happy he had his family and his dogs, I spent 3 days with him, and he had me in fits of laughter, Most of the time

So just because a bit of Humour arises, ?? It Does not mean one does not Care  !!

I made the comment because the thread is in very poor taste, no amount of justification can change the fact.

There is a fine line between black humour and bad taste. I think it was Mel Brooks who said that comedy is when you fall through an open manhole and die but tragedy is when I cut my finger. In fact I have asked that my own burial be accompanied by a little black humour, as well as my epitaph. Fittingly, I have requested that Stan Crapp handle the arrangements for this "down to earth guy".

Whether or not the joke is in bad taste, from my perspective it is aimed at the incompetent authorities rather than the unfortunate passengers.

Further to Santa's comments, it is appalling that posters on this site find the sudden and violent deaths of 239 people to be a subject for humour, however well-intentioned the post may have been.

I am asking Cindy to delete the thread. It has nothing to do with GN-ing, it is in extremely poor taste and it certainly NOT funny.

And the comment about "just scrolling past" such threads is beneath contempt.

Tony

I understand the sentiments both for and against this thread, however I wasn't aware that the plane has been found and the fate of the passengers known ????

If it hasn't, then there is still the possibility of the plane could have ended up somewhere and the passengers held captive for whatever reason.   If the fate of the plane and them is not known then I don't think anyone should jump to conclusions either way.   Just my thoughts....confuse

Some people think its in bad taste, Others like me, see it for what it is, a bit of humour in a sad situation. We are all entitled to our opinion and we are all entitled to voice our opinion and that is where in my opinion, we should leave it.

How do we know these people have died ?

Let them find the plane first before we make any comments about people dying.
And if they find the plane and the people are still alive then what.
Will the people who have spoke of death ,apologies.
Don't think so. IMHO.

Let me say this .If they have left us then I will be the first one to say a prayer for them.

Very funny.....I stole it barina!

I was an emergency service career professional for 39 years.

The things I saw and the things I heard.....and the black humour (among the shift), was a pressure relief.

Stay home if you can't handle peoples different outlooks.

That is the beauty of free speech: one side got to relieve their cares and stress by joking and the other side can come along to say why they objected to the macabre joking.

Sure beats censorship.

For myself, I was more interested in the history of the TV series. Or so it might appear. In reality we are all devastated and we all cope differently.

Thanks for all the comments on this everybody. I am closing this thread down now. I understand why some people may take offence at this image but - given that there has already been so much debate around it – I think it would not make sense to take it down now and for the subsequent discussion to be taken totally out of context. It is very important that a healthy forum like this is a place where we can all share different views and discuss them vigorously, but still be able to treat each other with respect and courtesy. Although this thread will now slowly work its way down the list and disappear, hopefully it can still serve as a reminder to us all to consider other people’s sensitivities when making comments and posting pictures.  Thanks, everybody.
