Westy. Some people I know are like slinkies. They look really funny when you push them downstairs !
Absolutely classic, love teh sound that Hank Marvin gets out of that Fender. They always had teh best amps as well, from memory they were the lead band for Vox amps that were made in the UK.
The other guitar work from the era I love is the base in Toto, particularly when they play Africa.
I rushed through my nightly GN viewings, then settled in for a Shadows Fest - I went to bed over 3 hours later. I haven't heard many of those tracks for untold years - I must dig out all my old Shadows LP's, setup the old turntable again and give them a whirl.
Back in 68, I had the pleasure of seeing them up close at an intimate concert at the Chequers nightclub in Goulburn Street Sydney - unknown to me at the time, this was one of their last ever concerts before they disbanded. In earlier years I frequented the Beatle Village nightclub in Oxford Street - one of the regular house bands was The D-Men - if you shut your eyes, you could swear you were listening to The Shadows, their copy-cat style and sound was so exact. Takes me back to some of the best and happiest years of my life.
The Shadows - without doubt the best instrumental group ever.
Regards, Brian
