I saw some members of this Association out on a ride this morning, they looked like a mixed chapter of their Association, from their colours, they have three chapters, Police, Ambulance and Fire Fighters. I would imagine that they have a few grey nomads among their ranks of those who have retired.
An excellent idea.
Ex-servicemen & women have the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club
and The Patriots. Good to see a club for "service" groups that are non-military as well.
There are sure to be some more out there but the more the merrier.
Bit of tongue in cheek here.
Motorcyclists wearing "colours" in Queensland with the current laws.
Some unknowing wallopers may make things annoying for the riders.
Also "outlaw" clubs would be sure to get bitter & twisted that others
are wearing "colours" and they can't.
We are Ulyssians.
I was pulled over. Alcohol & drug tested. Had our trike looked over.
Quizzed about my friends. Asked about my tatts. Generally talked down to by the ill-informed.
Three times in the first 2 months. Each time left standing in the Qld. summer sun.
20 to 30 minutes each time. Several other Ulyssian friends have had similar experiences.
After our Christmas toy run where the police commissioner rode with us
the word seems to have got out to leave some riders be.
Personally, I would rather have the outlaws wearing their colours.
That way you know who you are dealing with.
Sorry. Getting off topic. Just needed a little rant.
It is a pity Chopit that the legit clubs get put into the same category by some who should know better and be more informed.
On a another point, I remember a little while back some Ulyssians were taken to task by a local bikie club for wearing the Ulyssian patches in the bikies territory. They had a meeting between them and the Ulyssian agree to remove their patches/jackets while in that town.
Oh yes, and a Ulyssian rally down near Albany WA, some sicko put wire across the road because the club was in town not sure whether they ever got the low life's responsible.
More power to the Ulyssians and other like minded biker clubs, they bring a lot of income to towns they visit.
Was that territory Canberra ?
The Rebels forced their way into the Ulyssian rally site. threatened many and assaulted a few.
Other outlaw clubs called the Rebels "Granny Bashers". No street cred gained there.
All over the "Old Man" round logo being worn.
The meeting between Ulyssies & outlaw clubs found a compromise in that the round, black & white
"Old Man" can be worn but no other patches on the back at all.
For some reason I cannot fathom Australian outlaw clubs believe they have an exclusive "right"
to wear " colours" ( embroidered or coloured back patches ). Their parent clubs are in the U.S.
where every guy & his dog can wear whatever they like on their backs without fear of intimidation.
The 2013 Lockyer ( Ipswich ) Toy Run raised $17,000 that mostly went to the Salvos plus a 4 tonne
truck of toys & gifts to be distributed by the Salvos.
