Changes to Badgers Caravan Park Reports

I got this in an email today;

You are receiving this email because you were previously kind enough to have submitted a caravan park or campground report to Australian Caravan Park Reports.

This email is to inform you of two major happenings:

The website has moved and is now at http://acpr.myparklist.com   The site is being hosted on the same sever as My Park List (http://myparklist.com ) which is hosted by Gary Stratton, but is still "separate" to that site.  Gary graciously offered to host the site when Vicnet ceased hosting websites in January.  Please update any bookmark you have to the new site - http://acpr.myparklist.com

  1. The site has had a major overhaul.  It is now a database environment, and as such more functionality can be provided to make it more user friendly in both terms of displaying reports and submitting reports.  The changes are summarised below.

 Menus: These remain visible at all times on the left-hand side of the screen.

 Displaying Reports:  There are no long lists of caravan parks in an index anymore.  A pick list is used to select the State, then Town, then Caravan Park.  All reports for that park are then displayed.  The parks can also be selected similarly by Region within a State.  The pick list remains at the top of the reports so that you can then easily select another park or town.  Anyone can display any report.

Submitting Reports: As previously, you must have a valid email address logged to be able to add reports - this allows your report count to be maintained accurately.  As a previous contributor, your email address, your "nickname" (#########), names, and report count, have already been loaded for you from when you submitted a report to the old website.  After you enter your email address a pick list allows you to select the park name for the report (or to type the name of a new unlisted park).  You can then select either the standard form or a short form to enter your report.  You then simply enter your report, you can preview it, and make changes, before saving (submitting) the report.  Depending upon the number of reports you have previously submitted, the report may be "held" for me to moderate it before accepting it with the click of a button.  Regular contributors will have their reports added immediately without moderation - although if you add a comment to me in a report, that report will be held for me to see the comment.

Unobtrusive ads appear when you go to display reports.  These are to help offset the connection costs involved in running the site.  No profit is made from this site.  All work on the site is still 100% voluntary since its inception in 1998, when it was the first of its type in the world.

Please visit the website, log in using your email address, and amend any details for yourself, and have a look around the site.

Please note, that the site lists caravan parks, campgrounds and station stays.  Roadside rest areas are no longer listed - these are adequately covered in Camps Australia (see the link at the bottom of the home page).

My sincere thanks to Gary Stratton for allowing my site to be hosted, and for Gary's tireless effort in creating the new facelift and overhaul of the site - he practically did it all (I just made dumb suggestions).  Thank you also to the Beta testers over the past weeks who helped "pull the site apart" and made (not so dumb) suggestions which were incorporated.

Regards,
Gerard (Badger)

They might be having teething problems with it being new in the sense of a new combined format...confuse

Used the site a lot and it was great. I hate it when things change though. Just get something all worked out and it's great and they up and change it and you have to get used to it all over again. If it ain't broke, don't fix it is my motto.

Oh well I suppose change is just part of life - have to accept that.

Dianne, from my experience the new format is so much easier to use than the old one

I think you will get to like it too.
