Insurance Load levelers

Hello everyone

Something to ponder!

Friends of ours had their load levelers stolen from their caravan/car outside a shopping center when they stopped for supplies. They found out they weren't covered under the caravan contents cover!! We paid extra on our contents insurance to cover ours but thought I would ring and check just to make sure. The first person I spoke to said they were not, the second person I spoke to said they were covered under our home and contents insurance, the third person I spoke to (almost 2 hours later)  said they were covered under our vehicle insurance, got put back to the original person who rechecked and wholaa!! they are covered under caravan contents!! I asked that this fact be placed on our renewal certificate (to prevent another 2 hour phone call) and guess what they cant do that so is Im now waiting on the manager to ring back to see if this is possible?

Have a great day

Jude confuse

Where were you. Why would someone steel your load levellers?
Who's the insurance company??????
Is it worth your while given the excess you need to pay?

Hello Larry

It was in SA in Port Augusta It was our friends caravan not ours,  their insurance company said they werent covered and they were unable to claim. Cant tell you much more than that except that I would like to think that I could claim on ours since I have taken out extra insurance to do so. Ours cost us almost $500 new in October and would most definately claim for them as our excess is only $150. The thing is if it is not covered under our caravan insurance and not under our home and contents insurance nor our vehicle insurance then where are they covered?  I am still waiting for the call back for the insurance company to tell me if they are covered and under which policy. Have just brought to everyones attention as these things happen and maybe we all should check.

Cheers Jude

We do the same too but my friends stopped at the shops for food for 20 minutes max. The caravan was standing was still hooked up!!! It took that short little while for the bars chains and hooks to be removed!   no

Cheers Jude

Hello Everyone,
The Insurance company finally got back to me today to tell me our load levelers are insured under the contents on our van. It took me two 2 hour calls and 2 days for a response to find out what they were insured under. I decided
I wouldnt want to repeat this if ever I had to claim so asked them to include this as a notation on our renewal certificate this took a day to find out if it was possible but apparently it is being done and it will posted straight out to me.
I hope you all check to see where yours are insured as it seems it is a common occurrence to have them stolen even when your van is hooked up when you park for a short amount of time at the shops.
Regards Judes and Bazz
