Be very carefull where and which one you buy as if they dont have the correct markings they are not legal .

"Markings
The front reflective surface of the plate must bear the name of the manufacturer or agent. In addition, Class 2 marking
plates must also be marked with the words AS1906 Class 2 or AS4001.2 Class 2. Class 1 plates also display letters indicating the correct orientation on the vehicle.
When buying plates, make sure that this information is provided on each of them. Plates without this identification will not be accepted"

Hallam Kenworth , there are a few truck dealers in Dandenong .

Truck sales & spares are the go, I dought that ebay  ones would meet the required specs & quality.

While on the subject its time people learned where these sighns  need to be placed to be legal.

The majority out there are not legaly placed on the van. Also the tug & van has to be over a required length before you can place a sighn on it

The correct location is on the left hand side only & only permits you to use additional roadway to make a left turn.

( INFO per NSW RMS ) Formaly RTA.

Sorry justcrusing but you have incorrect info re the left turn only .

(1) A driver must not drive past, or overtake, to the left of a vehicle displaying a do not overtake turning vehicle sign if the vehicle is turning left and is giving a left change of direction signal, unless it is safe to do so.
Maximum penalty: 20 penalty units.

Note. Left change of direction signal and overtake are defined in the Dictionary.
(1A) A driver must not drive past, or overtake, to the left of a vehicle displaying a do not overtake turning vehicle sign unless:
(a) the driver is driving on a multi-lane road and the vehicle can be safely overtaken in a marked lane to the left of the vehicle, or
(b) the vehicle is turning right, or making a U-turn from the centre of the road, and is giving a right change of direction signal and it is safe to overtake to the left of the vehicle, or
(c) the vehicle is stationary and it is safe to overtake to the left of the vehicle.
Maximum penalty: 20 penalty units.

Note. Centre of the road, marked lane, multi-lane road, overtake, right change of direction signal and U-turn are defined in the Dictionary.

Those rules are directed at the person behind the one displaying the sigh age.

Mycomment was that the person displaying the sighnage could only use additional roadway for a left turn' I didn't comment on following traffic

I agree with JC here,, it's not the correct legislation for affixing signs.

all ways thought the signs made it legal when turning left

to be able to take over half the right lane 50 meters

            before turning

Great that someone brought this up as I have had several discussions with people about this.

When i checked with VIC roads I was told that i should have one as my Caravan is over 7 mtrs. Failure to do so would result in me being at fault IF I needed to swing wide to take a corner and some Moron decided to come up the inside. This still happens, however if they are caught ( as I have a sign on the drivers side back of caravan) or cause accident they are at fault. You cant stop idiots on the road however you can cover yourself a little.

I personally think every caravan over 5mtrs should have one. Safety first and I also think it lets other road users know that you are a long vehicle. Its like the mirror one that some seem to ignore at their peril.

Are these signs supposed to be on the LEFT side of your caravan ?

have seen some on the right and also some obscured by spare wheels and bikes.

500mm max from the left hand side
2000mm max height .
400mm min height .
