swat bars or level riders

We think that we have sway bars. 2 iron poles with bend one end and chain. Not sure if we need them for 14ft pop top van with a 2.5 Nissan Navara ute. We also are not sure how we fit. Have a Haymen Reece tow bar. Being newbies and wanting to get it right we are hoping someone out there could tell us if it's worth using them and how to set up. Thanks for any advice.ð¯

While they are marketed under a number of brand names and terminology such as 'Level Rides', 'Load levellers etc. the correct term for them is Weight Distribution Hitch (WDH).
Even with your light weight van you'll most like see some benefit in using one that is rated to match the vans laden ball weight.
While the small 2 bar one your have (Rated to a max of 70 - 80Kg) may not work as intended i.e. distribute the some extra weight added to the rear axle of the vehicle back to the front axle when the van is attached, it will at least help minimise for aft pitching between the vehicle and van.
Cheers, Ozjohn.

Thank you ozjohn. We will try and get something else to fit then. They don't appear to fit anyway. As the previous van owner pulled with a 2 wd s Wagon. I am hoping it will be ok to travel on mainland when we leave Tasmania where we may find something else and talk to other travellers. cheers
