TnT hi

I would like one too but hanging out for my next interest payment to see if I own one of them or $10000 special. Good choice with lots of carrying capacity with gutsy motor. Cheers

Being a Nissan person, the 4.5 diesel troopy 4 door ute would be one reason I would look at a Toyota. Great strong truck and don't worry about comfort. Will be better than most in the comfort and accessory stakes.
Go for it.

Hi tezza n tomoko,

I drive one of those Troopies and I love it. Don't tow with it , but it has the courage to go anywhere. It's taken me to many places - CSR, Cape, Gibb, Plenty and others without issue. Comfort wise - driver's seat on the recent ones has much better support but passenger bench on long distances can become a bit hard. I prefer a basic interior - much easier to clean the red dirt and dog hair. Also didn't want electric windows, central locking as they can become problems if they malfunction in the places I go. Love it.

We have the station wagon version of it . Main difference to the troopy is we had a seat behind the front seat and two

extra doors . Took the extra seat out which gives a lot more space . Just over 2 years old , 61000 kms on the clock .

Fantastic vehicle for towing . Our van weighs around 2900 ks loaded and it does the job easily .

Was about $30000 cheaper than the 200 series LC , and a better towing vehicle .

TnT, we have a cruiser 200 series. The trooper is essentially the same engine but single turbo. If you find it's short on performance, you can always 'chip it'.
Good luck, Larry

I drive a 2003 4.2L EFI TD and love it. One big consideration with the Troopies though is access to the rear. Mine is an ex ambulance so it came with a side door fitted which is very useful. We have no rear seats and i installed a drawer system with storage lockers as well. Without the side door, access means climbing over the back from the front seat, or via the rear barn doors only. I have used it to tow a camper trailer up through the centre a few times, and a few short trips with a small caravan (Avan Ray 11'6") and it has plenty of guts for this, the V8's would have to be even better. The seats in the newer V8's are more comfortable than the stock older troopy seats, but mine had Stratos fitted when i got it and they are comfy. The ride is a bit rougher than the wagons, but with front coil springs it isn't so bad.
