I got a 'great deal' from Sydney - included a wireless reversing camera and an invertor - both cheap and useless - beware!

To us, we feel that even at this package deal, that Honda are ripping us off.
I can not justify paying that sort of money as against s similar gennie from China. ( Ok, I will get some flack over this last comment.)
They say that the cheapies from China, have similar components to that of Honda. If correct, who is making the big bucks.
Anyway at the end of the day the choice is yours.

We bought one on Ebay made in China over 2 years ago, a 4KVA goes great, very happy with it , heavier than a Honda, but a lot cheaper.

As JayDee said, your choice.

 Hi John,

i bought same honda, 18 months ago. Thru the generator place in Melbourne's western suburbs. It was on special $1,699 inc cover and jump leads. I haggled for cash ( thru DD card) and got a further $100 off. quotes to fit solar solar on my roof were nearly as much. My logic was, I can jump start tow if I have a flat battery. It runs my fridge n tv at home home during frequent power cuts, and it came with a 5 year warranty.

$1,650 with delivery seems like a good deal For that Honda.

cheers,

MJ

Hi all. Any question on this forum re cheap generators immediately sets my alarm bells ringing. Recently on this, and a couple of other forums, there has been a lot of notifications of generator recalls due to inherent manufacturing faults, and it's not because of cosmetic blemishes that these recalls occur, it's because the faults turn the gennies into mobile electric chairs. Some of them are downright dangerous. My suggestion to any one contemplating a generator purchase is get a proven one. I recently saw one of the first of the Honda gennies on a blokes yacht, had to be 25 yrs old, and it started 2nd pull every time. We all know that the better ones cost more so bite the bullet and at least you won't end up with an unreliable or very temporary power supply or, worse still as a statistic. Cheers.

This is a 25yr old Honda EM500U generator with a potential lethal setup. Note the 12V DC socket, the lead can be pluged into the 240V AC socket. There never was a real atemp to recal them by Honda. This is what some of the recall are actualy about, the 12V DC lead.

That sounds like a good deal. Best I've seen is around $1,800.00.
