Well our trip to Wineglass Bay was cancelled due to the weather..... just gives us a reason to return to Tassie. We made the most of the day and toured around the local sights and enjoyed a bang up meal at the resort. Cannot praise the Edge of the Bay enough. Fabulous accommodation sited on an amazing spot. We could lay in bed and watch the waves. We were lucky to see a small pod of dolphins on our last morning. And every morning we were pestered by some wallabies for breakkie. They were extremely persistent and so we could not eat on our lovely terrace.
So it was off to Port Arthur next. Our accommodation at Abs by the Bay was also very good. The hosts were so obliging. We took the Ghost Tour at Port Arthur the first night and had a great time. Our guide was very knowledgeable and a true character in her presentation method. Did we see any ghosts? No! But it was a fabulous experience. Next morning we were back for he day tour and experienced a different aspect. It turned quite hot and Mongrel got the top of his head sunburnt!!! He always knows better!!!! And suffers for it!!!! At least we managed to cool off on our little cruise around the Isle of the Dead. Our heads were spinning from all the info we had absorbed. We agreed, (for once!) that we could have spent days there. On our last afternoon, having just arrived back from Port Arthur the area was hit by a blackout. You may have heard about the severe winds that hit Hobart. We drove around to find somewhere to get a hot meal, but all were closed. Then we realised that we were running low on petrol and headed back to Abs. Al had just lit the bbq to toast some bread when the power came on at a little after 7. We were able to make ourselves spaghetti on toast. After such a long, busy day it was a feast.
Next stop, Hobart. We have been here for a couple of days and have managed to tootle around a fair bit. On Monday after having morning tea at Sorrell, we did some groceries and settled in. Yesterday we went up to Mt Wellington in the morning. Poor Mongrel got sick from driving up and could not do much up the top as his vertigo was playing up. I managed to climb to the top of Mt Wellington!! Mongie took photos! In the afternoon we hit the Cadbury factory which is only 5 mins drive from where we are staying. We can see the factory from the kitchen window! Fluked this spot when booking!!!!
So today we are off to Richmond or Dover, not sure yet! Will keep you posted. Enjoy your travels. We are having a great time on ours.
Regards
Delilah.... and Mongrel!
P.s the pic is the view from our terrace at Coles Bay
Good morning Jules. Yes what a place. This has been a great trip so far ,enjoying everything. If this is what being a nomad is all about then bring it on..All the reports posted by those who have travelled here are correct. Will definately come back..Anyway just about to have breakfast before we head off again..Thanks all ....Mongrel
Thank You Delilah, It was good to read your report ! it's a release for people like me, who are not quite ready ''YET'' to have that freedom to travel wherever, whenever, ?? [But my time is close ? ] We have been to Tassie a few times over the last 30 odd years, so we are well aware of why you ''Love the Place'' Keep enjoying it ?? and keep posting that enjoyment ? Ok !! If I cannot live my travels yet, well I will just enjoy yours
PS ? I was speaking to Dougwe last night, and he spoke very Highly of you both ? [ well of Delilah anyway ] But of Mongrel he said that he is a bit like Wombat, ?/ and I should take the 'mickey' out of him every chance I get so I now understand why dougwe keeps telling you to Keep The Mongrel Chained up,
I thought you two must have fallen down a wombat hole cos you haven't been posting your adventures. Good to see you haven't fallen down a wombat hole.
That pic is disgusting, disgusingly beautiful that is. Sounds like you are having a great time and also glad you didn't get taken by a ghost at Port Arthur. They are there you know!
Now as to Dazren saying I should take the 'Mickey' out of Mongrel, I didn't say that at all, I said not to avoid wombat. Speaking of wombat, I have your wombat bar ready to fit on your return to the main land.
Keep enjoying Tassie both of you and see you when you get back but most important to,

Mmmm, not sure why you would say that jessie as MONA is Museum of Old and New Art, hence, M.O.N.A.
Don't see any reason why Bob would go blind by suggesting a place like MONA in Hobart.Unless of course you don't like a drop of wine cos it's located within the Moorilla winery. It's also a privately funded museum.

Yes there are some things a bit questionable I spose but keep moving on as there is plenty of good stuff old and new. It's not that bad really. No need to get personal and call people 'Sicko' though. Everyone has different tastes and likes.
Next you will be picking on the "Nulla Twins" and wombat
Gee wiz, it's not even 2% Sunday
