What is Wrong here..?

Hi All..

Ok this is the Prelude to me posting a few Photo's of stuff that I have found in the Bus..

The Photo's show What I feel is series of wrong thing's that could of, if not found at this time and left in place could of caused some serious Damage.. - Yes, I have dismantled the bulk of the work done to the Bus/Motor home I have just bought..

Why do you ask.. Well I post that in the Build Section..

all I can say is I hope that the connection's and Cabling that I found is not indicative of this one installers Work.. or G.Help us..

If the crap/workmanship that I have found is from a Sparkies Point of view is Shocking..

I'll Post some Pic's Tomorrow.. Tonight is a little bit late here..

Juergen

Juergen you get that on the big jobs, and the small ones too it seems. We spent $700+ getting a tv setup installed and some extra 12v outlets put in, another $600 and I have just spent the last week rerouting all the wiring/cabling to where it should have been put in the first place. If you want it done properly it looks like a DIY job. The annoying part for me was having to purchase gear to do the jobs when I had auctioned off a workshop full of gear when we sold up our property. Hang in there mate and you will come out laughing on the other side. Cheers.

As I said I'm a Sparky..

My specialty is construction..
- Switchboard wiring and Fitout.
- PLC Wiring. Control Gear..

-> Office Building Maintenance as well as electrical Plant for said Buildings..
General Wiring system
- Fire Systems.
- Emergency lighting and Batteries..

Plus a heap more of experience...

Ok some of the issue that I found..

240volt side..
- Non compliance Power Point's
- Non Compliance Light switches..

- For my mind incorrect Cables used..
> solid 2.5mm TPS.. Should of Been Stranded at a Minimum.
> Extension Lead Cable..[Not 100% sure is this is in standard or Not..?]
> Multiple Circuits Joined in the same Junction Box. Now that is not Correct..

DC side of Thing's..
- To small a cable for All sub-circuit's.. [Less than 2.5mm]
> Hot water cable was less than 2.5mm
> Cable for the Fridge Location Less than 2.5mm and about 4m long.. Definitely not up to what everload was expected of a fridge..

-- >> The Big one was the incorrect use of the heavy cable that came with the Inverter..
The inverter is a 12v 2500w cont.. 5000w surge.. The inverter came with 2 of each ..
Being 12v 2500w.. expected load of 210A at a minimum..
- So I don't think the use of just 1 of the 2 cable set's would of worked to well at full load..
>> Big thing.. Not a Single Fuse in the Inverter Circuit..

The Large Cables had no Protection at all..

I'll drop a few Photo's in later..

Welcome to the real world,

My Earth leads were Red, Black, yellow, green, white, Blue, All in the same length of wire, Hahahahaha,

Some people just dont have a clue,

I had to trace all the wires back to where they came from before I could do any thing with the wiring,

Heaps of wiring in there that does nothing but create a mess,

At least you got the electrical Quals to help you out,

I have to go onto the Boat and Coach forums to sort mine out,

They are very good with the info, They Give good diagrams so you can understand what they are saying,

And the set ups work with out problems,

And the best part, They dont argue about it, Or make you feel like an idiot when giving their advice,

And others also jump in with their Proven advice as well, With Piccys,

My electric knowledge is near Zero, And I dont have a Sparky on tap, But I eventually get it right,

My expertise is Mechanical, Practising Engineer, Forging Blacksmith, Boilermaker/Welder, DLI Certs,

So I am not really an Amateur, I do have some idea,

It takes time, But you will get there,

Well done to start it,
