Most electric elements that are submersed in water fail due to corrosion of the sheath enclosing the heating element. The corrosion can be minimised by corrosion protection like an anode.
so it is important to check it each 6 months and replace when it is nearly exhausted.

Truma units are normally stainless Steel tanks, so there will be no anode.
coromal has replaced the element twice under warranty saying thats the problem. vans going in next week dont know if they will fix it under warranty again.he has changed 6 vans with the jayco heaters but its about 1500 to do it
We have 14 litre Trauma gas/240 system in our 2007 Jayco conquest, no problems with unit on either gas or 240, no anode in these, would suggest either thermostate or 240 switch, fuse.

walwal, you need to phone ACCC on 1300 302 502 explain what has happened and they will advise you what action to take, do it NOW.
We have a Truma 14 L 240V gas HWS in our motor home, has never given us any problems, operates in either mode first time every time.
Why not get an independent assessment from another experienced installer, I suspect the original installation is the problem, either that or a faulty componant in the unit.
Our Truma HWS is just over two years old. Probably been used 6 times. Recently started playing games and then yesterday no hot water at all. Instruction book did not shed any light. as we are away, not sure what the next move is.
