Pacific Highway-Lismore-Casino-Tenterfield-Glen Innes

We've just come through this road from the Coast, towing the 25' van, and didn't realise how hilly it was going to be over much of the route.  Unexpectedly slow trip that used a lot of fuel, road sometimes quite narrow and winding, and some road works - just thought we'd let others on the forum know so you can be prepared.  We wouldn't go that way again - not towing anyway.

But if you hadn't gone this way, just think about what you would not have seen, or how much fuel you would have spent going the long way round.

Um, the Pacific highway is on the coast... it looks like you were on the New England Highway. Yes its a bit hilly but very scenic and we usually choose it over the Pacific which is very busy and has been having a lot of roadworks.

No we went from the Pacific Highway on the Coast through the Bruxner Highway to where we joined the New England Highway at Tenterfield. The New England Highway was no problems.

Ah yes, sorry I got it now! Yes, not an easy road, very scenic though! Some roads in that area aught to be sign-posted "Unsuitable for Caravans"!

Hi All

Please don't do that, we do enjoy driving those up down roads.

Left home from Brisbane down the New England Highway to Singleton then Putty Road to Windsor, from there via Penrith to Oakdale. Could of taken Pacific but that could be boring driving along a busy four lane highway.

Don't put ideas into lawmakers heads, take the time to learn to drive these less used back roads. I know I used a bit more fuel to do this trip over the last trip down this way but I really don't want to see people miss informing others that this road is unsuitable for caravans when it's the driver is unsuitable to tow a caravan.

My rant for the day. Cheers

We travel the road from the coast to the New England often.and find the highway from Grafton to Glen Innes is by far the better road compared to Casino to Tenterfield - would only go via Casino if we were heading north to Queensland.
