Merimbula Lake Caravan park - anybody been?

We are heading off on a trip in April and come across this place, booked for 5 nights but just noticed it's not actually in Merimbula but on the other side of Merimbula about 8ks drive.  Just wondering if anyone has been here?

Boothy,

I haven't been there but check out caravan park reports on acpr.myparklist.com/

I have found this site to one of the best when on the road. Cause everbody has a different view but if you read a couple of reviews it gives a good indication on the park.

G'day Boothy, haven't been there for a few years, but in the past have stayed at all the van parks in the Bega valley for work reasons. Only ever stayed at Merimbula lake when there was no other choice, only because of it's situation. Its facilities were good, it has shade and the people were really nice to deal with.

To get to the park from Merimbula, you have to either go down to Pambula, then turn nth towards Bega. Or go north toward Bega before turning towards Pambula on the highway. It's at the bottom of a hill on a bend on the Princes highway bypass, lots of trucks, traffic all night and at the top end of the lake and has a launching ramp into the lake. if you have a boat. It's a good distance from the beach or Merimbula, Pambula is closer.

The best parks are at short point Merimbula, they over look the ocean and are great places to stay. It's a lovely couple of minutes walk into the center of Merimbula or the long surf beach and back lake. There's also a new one south of Pamubula which s also a motorhome park, but have only driven past, so know nothing about it.

Hope that helps.

thanks, for the info, I think I'll change it, I want somewhere we can just walk into town (pubs, dining, shopping etc).  Is there one in particular that you would recommend at short point?  I figure we need to book soon as its NSW school holidays, next time Im avoiding them but can't this trip.
