RE: WHO IS THIS

You got it Santa...

Nancy Wake

Nancy Grace Augusta Wake, AC, GM (30 August 1912 7 August 2011), also known as Madame Fiocca and Nancy Fiocca, was a nurse and journalist who joined the French Resistance and later the Special Operations Executive (SOE) during World War II, and briefly pursued a post-war career as an intelligence officer in the Air Ministry. The official historian of the SOE, M. R. D. Foot, said that "her irrepressible, infectious, high spirits were a joy to everyone who worked with her".[1] Many stories about her World War II activities come from her autobiography, The White Mouse, and are not verifiable from other sources.

Born in Wellington, New Zealand, Wake grew up in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. By the 1930s, Wake was living in Marseille with her French industrialist husband, Henri Fiocca, when the war broke out. After the fall of France to Nazi Germany in 1940, Wake became a courier for the Pat O'Leary escape network led by Ian Garrow and, later, Albert Guérisse. As a member of the escape network, she helped Allied airmen evade capture by the Germans and escape to neutral Spain. In 1943, when the Germans became aware of her, she escaped to Spain and then went to the United Kingdom. Her husband was captured and executed.[2]

Brenda Lee it is Ted.

Brenda Mae Tarpley (born December 11, 1944),[2] known professionally by the stage name Brenda Lee, is an American singer. Primarily performing rockabilly, pop, country and Christmas music, she achieved her first Billboard hit aged 12 in 1957 and was given the nickname "Little Miss Dynamite". Some of Lee's most successful songs include "Sweet Nothin's", "I'm Sorry", "I Want to Be Wanted", "Speak to Me Pretty", "All Alone Am I" and "Losing You". Her festive song "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree", recorded in 1958, topped the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in 2023, making Lee the oldest artist ever to top the chart and breaking several chart records.

Having sold over 100 million records globally, Lee is one of the most successful American artists of the 20th century. Her U.S. success in the 1960s earned her recognition as Billboard's Top Female Artist of the Decade and one of the four artists who charted the most singles, behind Elvis Presley, the Beatles and Ray Charles. Her accolades include a Grammy Award, four NARM Awards, three NME Awards and five Edison Awards.[3] She is the first woman to be inducted into both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. In 2023, she was named by Rolling Stone as one of the greatest singers of all time.[4]

Dillberries,

Tatts correct. It is Robbie Williams. Who will you have for us now?

Robert Peter Williams (born 13 February 1974) is an English singer and songwriter. He found fame as a member of the pop group Take That from 1990 to 1995, launching a solo career in 1996. His debut studio album, Life thru a Lens, was released in 1997, and included his signature song "Angels". His second album, I've Been Expecting You, featured the songs "Millennium" and "She's the One", his first number one singles. His discography includes seven UK No. 1 singles, and all but one of his 14 studio albums have reached No. 1 in the UK. Six of his albums are among the top 100 biggest-selling albums in the UK, with two of them in the top 60, and he gained a Guinness World Record in 2006 for selling 1.6 million tickets in a single day during his Close Encounters Tour.[1]

Williams has received a record 18 Brit Awards, winning Best British Male Artistfour times, Outstanding Contribution to Music twice, an Icon Award for his lasting impact on British culture, eight German ECHO Awards, and three MTV European Music Awards.[2][3] In 2004, he was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame after being voted the Greatest Artist of the 1990s. According to the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), he has been certified for 20.26 million albums and 9.2 million singles in the UK as a solo artist.[4] Five of his albums have also topped the Australian albums chart, and has sold 75 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time. He also topped the 20002010 UK airplay chart. His three concerts at Knebworthin 2003 drew over 375,000 people, the UK's biggest music event to that point.[5] In 2014, he was awarded the freedom of his hometown of Stoke-on-Trent and had a tourist trail created and streets named in his honour. Williams' thirteenth album, XXV, was released on 9 September 2022.[

After 15 years, Williams rejoined Take That in 2010 to co-write and perform lead vocals on their album Progress, which became the second-fastest-selling album in UK chart history[8] and the fastest-selling record of the century at the time.[9] The subsequent stadium tour, which featured seven songs from Williams' solo career, became the biggest-selling concert in UK history when it sold 1.34 million tickets in less than 24 hours. In 2011, Take That frontman Gary Barlow confirmed that Williams had left the band for a second time to focus on his solo career, although he stated that the departure was amicable and that Williams was welcome to rejoin Take That in the future.[10] Williams has since performed with Take That on three separate television appearances,[11][12][13] and collaborated with Barlow on a number of projects[14] such as the West End musical The Band.[15]

Another clue. He covered more square miles (km in today's terminology) than any other explorer on the planet. Makes Burke & Wills look like a pathetic joke.

Firsts, including flights across the Arctic and in Antarctica, and taking a submarine beneath the frozen Arctic Ocean. First Australian to climb all fourteen +8000 metre peaks.

Makes my adventures look pretty tame.

Born in South Australia.

Did a trip on the Graf Zeppelin.

An antarctic area is named after him.

Participated in the Great London Sydney air race, survived the crash of their plane.

Seriously, you all have to try a bit harder on your Australia history.

Antarctic ice shelf names noted below. Also a Sound was also named after said person.

Amery

Larsen

Riiser-Larsen

Fimbul

Shackleton

George VI

West

Wilkins

This person was the explorer to view more square km of the planet than other person in the world, flying over endless square km of the Arctic & Antarctic in aeroplanes built from timber (including propeller) & varnished cotton.

He also insisted taking scientific measurements on all his expeditions. Even on the London Sydney air race he was taking 30 minute recordings of atmospheric data. His priorities over simply getting a Sydney airport named after himself. Data in remote & difficult places was his priority & not "selfies".

Just throw a "dart" if your Australian history is that bad & we get an answer from there!

Just as an aside, this chap wasnt the first Aussie to climb all 14 of the 8000 metre plus mountains.

That was a climber Anthony Lock. The first and only Aussie to have done that feat at present.

I suggest this is the South Australian Hubert Wilkins.

Ill let you put up another if that is correct WWAT, as I have not got any idea how to post a picture.

Anthony Lock was the first Australian to do it without oxygen. Hubert Wilkins used oxygen.
