Depends. When we are away from home or the caravan, its a picnic... often carried in a backpack as we like to find nice spots in the bush. It may be just simple sandwiches, as boring as baked beans or maybe cold chicken (NEVER eat that chicken roll stuff! bleh ) with salads. Fresh fruit to follow, coffee from the Thermos, and a nice "feet-up" to enjoy our surroundings.smilesmilesmile

At home its eggs on toast, salads, wraps,  soup and roll... I know its supposed to be better for your health to eat the main meal of the day at lunch-time but even now we are retired we just don't seem to have the time.

We prefer not to have "lunch" as such, we have a large, latish breakfast, sometimes on the road (i.e. pack the van up, and find a really nice new location for breakfast) so often not until around 9.30 am.  Then around 11.30 we have elevenses, coffee & home made fruit cake or similar.  If Mr D is hungry in two hours, I give him fruit, then we try to eat our main meal around 4.00 pm.

We save money on food, eat a lot less bread, have time to go for a walk after our main meal of the day, in the cool of the evening and don't to bed on a full stomache.

Doesn't always work, but this is the plan.

On the road it's sandwiches and fruit. When parked its soup or salad. Sometimes left overs from dinner the night before. When sightseeing it's sandwiches and fruit again with coffee from the thermos. Nothing really exciting but healthy food. We usually eat dinner about 6 .
