Didn't I read something about Brisbane in earlier days being flood proof?

I arrived in Brisbane just after the '74 floods. I ended up loving in Northey Street, Windsor, all houses with garages underneath and the main dwelling as a second story. Didn't help.

After this they built the Wivanhoe Dam which was supposed to make Brisbane Flood Proof. Didn't help.

Ah, Mother Nature, gotta love her.

We launch a boat at Broad Beach traffic lights to rescue people from the canal estates.....some houses went into the canals biggrin
